A couple of things I noticed from a careful inspection of the video: * This beta has rear parking sensors, but the two sensors in the upper middle of the rear bumper are missing. I barely spot a hole/sensor of some form in the lower black section of the bumper, but it's not clear if that's the same sensor as on the corner bumper, or something different. * The front parking sensors are missing entirely, but whichever ones are there are probably covered by the wrap. * Looking through the windscreen and driver's window, I see no sign of the touchscreen rising above the line of the dash, as in the prototype. * I also don't see a rear-view mirror. It may be lost in the roof area, but it's not as obvious as I'd expect, given the multiple shots. * The window section of the falcon wing door is smaller than in the prototype, and the black support area is bigger. * There's either some weird air intake at the leading edge of the hood, or there's a trim piece missing there. * There's also an air intake or something next to the fog light glass, or another bad trim matchup. It's clearly shaped there, but I can't speculate as to why. * You can *just* make out the seams on the roof for the falcon wing doors. The center post appears about the same size as in the prototype, and not wider or more narrow.
Finally, another image of a mule. This one looks closer to the "real" production model. May still be some camo on there.
Great catch - from the picture it looks like once again I280... that seems to be the spot to find the Model X! - - - Updated - - - Without a doubt. And I have some suspicion if those are random lucky shots or if some of the pictures are actually planted...
johnabreen shared a link to some new photos over at the teslamotors forums... Tesla Model X spy art -- Automotive News Photo Gallery There's a couple of really good shots from the rear that really show the ill fitting falcon wings with the rear quarter panels.
I just saw that same car today along I280 near Redwood City. I know its a crappy photo. Model X Test Mule Sighting | TESLA OWNER
Interesting. Somehow I always assumed the falcon door hinges would be parallel along the car's center line, but they clearly aren't in those pictures. Walter
The reflection or screen on the A pillar, passenger side. This is seen through the entire video. I wish it would be a looktrougt A pillar, as some prototypes have. From other comparison have shown. The screen could also be used as a screen for the mirrors, when the cameras replace them. Can also just be a reflection from some technical equitment the passenger is using.
The nose of the car in the Spy Art images is interesting. Have those three rectangular indentations always been there?
I could imagine seeing a see-through A pillar on the passenger side on that video, for sure. It looks like it. It even shows from the front, in seconds 12-13 for example. That technology exists in competing cars as well, in prototype form. There also seems to be odd video-like reflections on the windshield. It could also be used to see through the bonnet (hence front corner cameras near the fogs I mentioned earlier?). This also has been seen in prototype form in competition. It might be the video doing tricks, of course. These could be some of Tesla's secrets. - - - Updated - - - No. There was the old alleged leak (that also had a CAD drawing or the like) saying the nose cone would be gone. In these and previous mules the area has been pretty well camoed, though. It looks different than the 2012-2013 prototype of course, but it can't be ruled out that the old nose cone would simply be replaced with some new nose code design... We shall see, but it does look like perhaps the biggest external secret remaining, the nose? Those see-through A pillars look pretty wild, though, if they are that. - - - Updated - - - The Spy Art images also seem to have the see-through-looking A pillar on the passenger side?
Okie dok guys, this thread has gotten pretty long and has strayed from the original topic a bit (since we actually have mule sightings to discuss). Folks are also not checking this behemoth of a thread (probably partially because title and partially because of length), and creating new threads. So Paul Carter and I will try our darndest to carve out relevant posts and place them in the new thread Model X Mule Spottings without breaking discussions here. This is such a long discussion nothing will be clean, but you can help out by continuing discussion of mules in the new thread from here on out.
A number of posts have been carved out so that the discussion regarding whether or not the mule we've seen is the final version can continue without cluttering the thread: Are the Model X mules close to the final version?
