I'm fairly sure a configuration change is needed by Tesla. I'd check with Tesla if they are willing to do that change. They often will not change any configuration data for the equipment you install. For example, a number of people added the digital FM radio after an MCU2 update, and Tesla service has always refused to update the configuration to enable it. Only if the FM was installed by them will they configure it. In part, they have no idea if the customer-installed part is functional, damaged, or installed improperly. That said, even if you tell them you'll take on all risks, they are unwilling to make such configuration changes. I wish you luck, but I think you're going to end up with a boat anchor.
