Currently, for my 2017 MS, purchase 9/2017, the pricing is as follows; 3-year@$1,625 or 4-year@$2,400
Is that for the Maintenance Plan?
I never bothered purchasing the Maintenance Plan because I didn't see the value. Interestingly, the maintenance plans are no longer shown as available for my Dec 2016 MS.
Why would the price go up as they start doing more maintenance? Reverse economics of scale? Their maintenance is already at a high end car prices. Elon wants people to think maintenance of EV's is cheaper, not "more expensive than a Porsche ICE".Well said. Tesla is the first extended warranty I've ever bought, but my feeling is that one MCU failure or other component like that more than pays for it. As far as the maintenance goes, the savings are minimal, but I like the idea of locking in the price. I suspect price will go up as Model 3s start rolling out en masse...
You're betting on one car and Tesla is betting over all their covered vehicles. If you buy the extended warranty, you are betting that repairs will cost more than you spent and they are betting it won't. Who do you think is better at that?
Correct. Like at betting at a casino. You're betting on a single game or a small number of bets and you do have a chance to win, however the casino wins overall as they are betting over the long term. You're betting on one car and Tesla is betting over all their covered vehicles.
