Which should I buy: an older Stealth with 18's or an AWD with 19's and better color?

About to take delivery of an '18 black on white stealth with 19's, but a '19 blue on white (preferred color) with 19's (preferred rims) popped up. WWYD? Price is almost identical.

was just soliciting advice comparing preferred color/rms over stealth performance. I think the zoom will win out over prettiness, but now I'm blurring my memories of the performance vs awd cars. My wife has a LRAWD and I drove it today, its very good, but I think the AWD is probably better, and Stealth even better than that. . . just thinking outloud I guess, but thanks for the feedback.

Its a lot of money to compromise on either color OR speed. To answer your original question ("WWYD"), it would be "Neither" because neither fit what it sounds like you want.

Saying that, some people focus on the "deal" more than "what they actually want".... not just with tesla, but in general. If you are "deal hunting" the stealth cars are likely a slightly better deal... but I would not buy a tesla demo car that they had on hand for 2 years (no way in @#$!#$ would I do that).

Anyway, you need to buy whichever one will make you the most happy... but I think you are looking for a specific "great deal"... so only you know which is going to make you more happy.

Get the 18s. You get better range out of them, tires are cheaper for them, and you can always buy a second set of wheels.

Stealth is the ideal car in terms of performance and comfort blend. The color combo should be your only big factor. While black isn’t my ideal color, if I had the money to do a full paint protection film on it (after a one or two stage paint correction) I would go for it. A mirror like black looks wonderful, it’s just a HUGE pain to take care of. After seeing how robust PPF is though I think I would feel safe getting the black.

newer one is younger car on paper; has later build; possibly later equipment and small-revisions; and that value can offset the $2k accel upgrade if you want to scratch that itch. black is also the thinnest paint?

Stealth.

black on white is an amazing color combo.

18” wheels are more sturdy. . I didn’t get the 19” wheel upgrade cause I heard a lot of 19” wheels were cracking

just be weary of the build quality of the 18. If nothing is to your liking return it

I'm having a hard time following this thread. The question is should I buy a 2018 black/white stealth with 19" wheels, or a 2019 blue/white (?AWD) also with 19" wheels. You don't specifically mention that the 2019 is not a stealth although I'm inferring it from follow up posts. You also don't state how many miles each car has, or whether either car is being sold as new and therefore eligible for federal and CA tax credits.

Black vs blue is just personal preference. It seems silly to tell you what we think because it's not our car. Stealth is obviously better than AWD but without knowing miles, new/used, and price it's hard to comment.

And for the people telling you to buy 18" wheels, are you suggesting the OP sell the 19" wheels that come with the car and buy a set of 18's? That seems kind of silly. I like the 18" wheels better but if I was buying a car with 19's installed I would just leave them as is and maybe consider swapping when it's time to replace them.

Ok, I guess to clarify my OP, the debate in my mind is going for a new 2018 Stealth for the P motor but undesired ext color/rims, or the LRAWD in color/rims I like.
Update:
I walked on the storage lot where they are staging near the DC, and located the '18 Stealth. Surrounded by shiny new cars, it is literally Covered in mud. Couldn't even tell its color (it hasn't rained here in almost 24 hrs, but you couldn't seen through the windshield or windows either). Was promptly escorted off the lot by an overweight renta-cop.

I started ordering the AWD on the way to the DC, but was driving and didn't hit enter with CC info. When I got to the DC, they were in the process of changing my order, and Bam! the pretty blue/white car was sold.

Back to square 4 with the Stealth, and hoping for something else to pop up before my delivery date (12/30) [insert eye roll here]

What’s the history of the 2018? Was it a demo car? How many miles? Tesla sold off most of their demo cars at the end of each quarter so to have a “new” untitled 2018 car still for sale seems a bit odd. Have you confirmed it was not a return? No damage history?

Supposedly a demo car, 688 miles, looks like its been in a mud-encrusted time capsule. I'm sure it will clean up well, but if I end up with it, will spend a lot of time before taking delivery. They won't let me drive it before I buy it. I know, 7 days/ 1k mi return policy, but then I can't buy another 3. . . Kinda rough.

I’m skeptical. Do you know what month in 2018 it was built? Even assuming December, it’s now 12 months old and only has 688 miles on it? Something else happened to that car they are not telling you about.

There is almost zero chance they "forgot about this car for 12 months" while it was sitting in storage somewhere. Its likely been sitting outside, waiting for some part or other, to be repaired from "something". I bet it is a "good deal" too on the discount. That car is a super, duper, hard pass to me.
