White Seats Stained from Tesla Seatbelts

Hi All, I'm a new to this forum, and excited to be here.

I have owned my Tesla Model X since September 2017, and it's been great. However, my white seats are getting damaged from the seatbelts. Tesla is looking into this, but I wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

I have a 6-seater Model X and all four rear seats have red stains where the seat belts touch the seats. It's on the leather and plastic material where the seat belt rubs against it. The two front seats don't have any stains considering the seat belts don't physically touch the seats.

Anyone else? Appreciate any feedback.

Just checked my April 2017 MX and I don’t have any discoloration under the seat belts in the second or third rows like your pictures indicate. Could it be rubbing off from a red coat or jacket one of your rear passengers is wearing? Coat to belt to seat?

That's interesting to hear about your Tesla.

I been asked that before about "red clothing", I just don't know how that would be possible. All four rear seats with the exact same marks? I don't carry passengers that often for that to happen. Or had the same person sit in every seat. I also don't think it's possible because the seats aren't stained from any red clothing otherwise - Just from the seatbelt. Lastly... where the seat belt is connected in the lap of the seat as in the photos... that section of the seat belt never touches clothing and it's also red. It's odd!!

Note to self: Do not transport a Tesla load of Canadian Mounties in their resplendent red dress uniforms.

I know this is a Model X thread, but I am seeing this on my third row 2021 7 seater Model Y, has Tesla been of any help to you yet or are they just stating that it is in spec?

Or it's like expecting anything you spend money on not to result in design related issues.

Why would the seat belts staining the folded 3rd row seats pass R&D QC?

Tesla has real QC? I've seen them deliver a car to a customer with a split A frame. I've seen 2 different color doors. Also 3 glass roofs that weren't attached and fly off on the ride home. Delivered to customers.

It was somehow better before the Model 3.

Reviving this thread. I recently cleaned/detailed my M3 2018. I was surprisingly happy that dawn dishwashing soap and warm water removed most if not all blue jean transfer from driver seat. I used the same solution for the rear seats but it didn't work on the seat belt transfer. Attached a pic, not the best, but there is still some transfer on or near the piping/seam.

Curious if anyone has alternate ways to get the seat belt transfer off? TIA
