Who is using overheat protection?

This thread has definitely increased my attention to the idea of buying some sunshades. Not only might that save some energy, it could (apparently) lengthen the life of the AC compressor. And it might help the upholstery or electronics on those days when cabin overheat protection does not run because it has been >12 hours since I last used the car....

Overheat protection is working great today. It’s 90F outside and the car is parked in full sun. The cabin fan is running but the compressor hasn’t yet, and it’s holding the car steady at 100°F.

It’s very smart about how it uses energy and it won’t run the compressor unless it needs to.
