Why does app and direct TEG connection show different battery SOC?

An hour ago the app showed 32% but when connecting directly to the TEG it showed 36%. Now the app shows 31% and the TEG shows 35% so both paths are updating. Is this always the case? Does direct connection show some sort of buffer that is taken out of the app's SOC value?

Yes, thats normal. There are a few threads floating around here, one with a chart that shows the range. Its been posted a few times but I cant remember the thread titles. I will look for them.

In the meantime, yes thats completely normal, and zero is not actually zero.

Edit: here is one thread I found, there are others though:
Tesla app and gateway showing different PW SOC%

Edit 2: That thread has a link to the other one I remembered:
Gateway Website PowerWall Reading off by 4%
