Why I cancelled my order

I believe the OP... My MYLR's (delivered in March 2022) build quality is not the greatest (and I have been a member for a long time for those "checking" the post counts, etc.)

I am not surprised that someone does not want to deal with taking their brand new car in to fix production issues. Tesla is not a startup anymore. They need to (and can) do better. Sadly, they are solely driven by how many cars can they manufacture and deliver in a quarter...

Yes, there are still lemons in the group, some have perfect fit and finish others not very good... the point being, even if fit and finish is crap take delivery anyway and if you don't like it sell the car for several thousand more than you paid for it. That is the economically sound way to handle the situation. Denying delivery is just wasting your time and refusing to make money. This may change in the coming months when the used car market stabilizes.

I must have gotten the rare good one. No issues at (or post) delivery, and not lamenting missing knobs and screens or moaning about other well known characteristics of the model. It has lots of truly amazing attributes and quite a few opportunities for improvement. As Popeye said "Ya pays ya nickel, and ya takes ya choice." The balance of good/bad for me is solidly on the positive end of the scale. Yeah, Tesla should hire some accomplished "car guys" to bring them along faster on the car quality and technology, but the legacy manufacturers should hire some Tesla guys to bring them along on the EV tech. Further, $60K for a BEV doesn't buy the same luxury level as a $60K ICE SUV. It is not unlike comparing the luxury level of a Cessna 172 to a car of similar cost. The luxury car's level of luxury in airplanes comes at Gulfstream prices. The base cost of the platform is more expensive leaving less room for gilding the lily. Not nearly as much contrast with the BEV/ICE comparison, but it is the same thing.

All the bashing around here and elsewhere made me nervous pre-delivery, but the ability to flip it for a profit made it a no risk proposition and the experience thus far is sufficiently favorable to keep mine off of Carvana. OP should go on and have a good life anyway. Tesla didn't hurt him for more than about $250. Suck it up buttercup.

Not rare imo. Same story here and so far I've yet run into anyone IRL that has experienced anything remotely close to the things I've read on forums and such. I arrived (no choice) an hour early to pick up mine and inspected every car on the lot in my boredom. Couldn't find a issue in the whole place. Spoke with a dozen other deliveries that day, outside of a few issues with cleanliness or detailing, same story across the board.

Poor build quality. Literally the worst fit and finish of any of the countless vehicles I have ever owned. Absolutely no pride just production. I rejected my first model y and just now decided to cancel my order. My time is obviously not valued when I’m expected to do a vehicle inspection for obvious issues and then have to come back to a service center and have them repaired on a new very expensive car. These are just the things you can see. NO WAY!!! Im going back to building assets not creating liabilities.
I don't understand why people feel the need to tell us they are bailing. I mean, who cares?

What a tough crowd. I am a new member as well but eager to learn. I do not own a Tesla but don’t see a problem with criticism of the brand. Objectivity is important. Nobody should be shamed for having their opinion.
There is plenty of criticism on here, much of it warranted. But this is kind of like someone joining a Facebook group only to announce that 'I'm leaving'....

From what I understand, most all these fit and finish issues have little to do with how their car drives, performs or functions. They are purely cosmetic issues that people are obsessing about. It a door does not close and latch securely, that is one issue. It it does not have perfectly flush surfaces, then that is a different issue.

Maybe they are so angry with their experience that they wanted to vent on this forum before signing off? I'm sure it could happen.

You should see some of the terrible builds on the FB groups.
Where are the pictures and specifics of exactly what was wrong if they were so angry? If I'm pissed, I'm going full ham on a takedown. This was just an inane, useless post in terms of highlighting particular build issues the OP encountered.

I'd stop short of stating "fake news", but it sure has a whiff of something odoriforous IMO...

Well, maybe not everyone is like you. Some people may want to vent and not post a point-by-point, comprehensive report.

What is the motivation for people to post fake experiences? I'm not understanding why there's so much doubt on this forum.

This is what OP posted in another thread:

"I recently had a model y delivered out of Fremont. Front headlight misaligned, Rear door very misaligned, top glass misaligned, interior dash trim misaligned, front marker lights loose, Front windshield trim bunched up and coming off. I was told these issues could not be fixed and these are not to speak of the numerous minor issues. All of these were easy to notice just from sight and with my untrained eye. I was told they were "in spec" but no one could tell me what spec was. Literally my 93 ford escort base model had superior build quality. It was an easy REJECT. Absolutely a big NO at this price point. Waiting to review their last and second chance vehicle."

So, he had a MY delivered, which was horrible and the worst, but decided to put another order and cancelled, but kept the original MY?? nothing makes sense.
Ever since OP posted he has not returned to comment on anything, which confirms that he/she was a bot or paid poster.

Sounds more like buyers remorse to be honest. Really think anyone would look at that obviously out of spec list of issues and believe they were said to be in Spec and acceptable and or worse yet, unfixable? I mean let's not be ridiculous. Say what you want good or bad, but we all know Tesla will try to fix anything and everything and most of the times right there on the spot. Whole thing sounds like BS to be honest.

Where does it say that he/she kept the original MY?

I don't see how any of this confirms anything. What do you think is their motivation?

They don't even try to hide/fake it anymore these days.

At least you can say you got the car and found those issues, hence you are selling it type of story line is way better than "I cancelled my order because I see negative stories on the internet about the car that I never owned".

How much do you get paid (if you are not a bot)?
Not a troll. I’m an honest guy that was interested in purchasing a Tesla. It was super poor. Misaligned parts all over the car. Stuff you don’t see on any auto these days especially at this price point. It’s my experience and it’s real.

I’m just trying to share my experiences so that others can take caution before they spend 80k on a car with numerous issues. Many of which I was told could not be fixed. For example: pass light sticking out an a really badly aligned door. Tesla still interests me but I’m on hold till I see much better quality overall. The car they tried to deliver me was a junk build compared to any of the many cars I have owned. No one here has to like it but it’s the truth
