Why I stopped displaying remaining miles

After having my Model 3 AWD for a few months and actually seeing how long the battery lasts, daily usage patterns, how fast I can supercharge, and that I can charge at 22 mi/hr at home make the range indicator pointless since I fill up when I sleep.

Just displaying the percentage reduces my range anxiety and degradation anxiety. It actually makes me feel like I can go further as well since percentage decreases slower than miles driven.

I’d recommend doing what I did if you experience any anxiety.

Yeah, I never used the "miles" indicator, just percentage - like my iPhone!

Also agreed 100%. For those with LR batteries you can do a quick math of 3x your percentage to get a mile estimate if needed as well.

The energy meter gives a better estimate of remaining range. The battery gauge showing miles is very misleading. Percent all the way.

Agreed. I wish it would ship this way and only display any type of range using the energy graph

dumb question and I know I should RTFM but how do I get the % instead of miles? I tried pressing various things but couldn't figure it out.. I am sure it's super simple and obvious

Call me old school but I just prefer seeing the miles remaining. Even if I switched to percent, I’d just be doing the 3X math in my head anyway lol

A percentage of battery doesn't tell me much. And, if you use the 3x of %, I doubt that's any more accurate than what the car tells you in miles.

Agreed! I started with % when I got the car and range anxiety was big. Switched to km and it completely went away!

I would prefer miles too if it was accurate but it's not. As someone else said the miles shown on the energy graph is much more accurate. So I just keep it on % and when i need to know miles remaining I bring up the graph.

I agree 300 miles.

And, showing % is old school. Showing miles/Km remaining is "new school". Just like my phone, I have it set to time remaining, not % remaining.
