Why is SiriusXM such an impossibility on the MS?

Hey all,

I'm new to this site and have owned my Tesla MS for about a year.

So my question is, why is it SO HARD to set up Sirius if it didnt come with your car? Things I have tried/Researched:

Onyx Plus with FM. I've heard FM transmission is HORRIBLE for not only music but even for talk.

AUX to USB. Doesn't work.

AUX to Bluetooth. Apparently BT on Tesla ONLY accepts phones and not a generic BT transmitter.

I've called Tesla and they said they don't recommend 3rd party solutions and won't upgrade me to the built in solution.

I've called best buy and they pretty much said the same.

I even asked Elon Musk on Twitter. Not that I was expecting a response mind you.

I know I can stream via my iphone's sirius app but to me that is unacceptable because my phone is a work phone and I can't use that much data for personal use. Also, its ridiculous that I have to pay essentially twice for Sirius because my $80,000 car can't support this basic need in 2019.

I don't think I have left anything out of this rant but I might have. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to mention, I even researched XM antennas for iPhone. Apparently there used to be one called Skydock but it was discontinued with no apparent replacement.

Adding an antenna for Sirius/XM is no simple matter.
You can get a portable Sirius/XM receiver and maybe a FM transmitter.

Take a look at this thread (Cleanest solution for USB cables from cigarette lighter jack to the front?) where I explain how I got XM working through my iPhone on my Model 3. You can use the phone to make calls and also listen (via bluetooth) to XM.

Hi, well its not so much of an impossibility as it is ridiculous. I mean I already have an LTE connection in my car and another in my work phone. i need to have a third just for Sirius? That would make Sirius alone cost more than my at home bradband connection.

I got a SiriusXM account for my iphone. Connect your phone and listen through the car's sound system. It is a bit of a pain when you want to change the station because you have to do it on you phone. A little inconvenient but it works.

btw, has anyone tried the Unity AUX to bluetooth adapter? I have been able to pair it to the car but I haven't tried playing music thought it yet.

Could you offer to reimburse your company for the additional charge of a more robust data plan?

Now days, most cell services, have unlimited streaming of music, why not check with your supplier.

XM works fine on my 75D. Listen PGA golf radio every day.
