Why is the instant projected range different on the 5/15/30 energy graphs?

The word instant is incorrect. It should be projected range based on the last 5/15/30 miles.

That is a different setting. In the energy app, you get to toggle between the two. They are labeled "Average", which is the one you are referring to, that averages over the last 5/15/30 miles, or the other option: "Instant", which takes only the very recent sample.
