Why is there a difference in darkness from tinted front windows two back windows

Last week time constraints prevented the shop from doing my back windows. Last week time constraints prevented the shop from doing my back windows today he finished the job. 35% on both front and back, yet the back appear limousine dark. Who what’s up with that ?

State laws for maximum tint vary, and since the cars are sold in all states, they must abide by the least amount of tint allowed by ANY state. Several states do not allow any tint whatsoever on the front side windows, but all allow at least 70% tint on the rear side windows. Thus the tint is slightly different from the factory between the front and back. Your rear windows are likely already tinted to 70%, so your 35% tint on top of that is going to be dark.

If you want them to match, you need to ask for that, rather than specifying what tint you want added or asking to have it as dark as possible. Legally in California they can probably only tint the front side windows to about the same as the rear windows come from the factory, but installers will usually do whatever you ask. They won't get the ticket.

Two things. As mentioned, laws allow darker tint in the back, but that doesn't seem like what is goiing on. The most likely scenario would be that it only appears that way because the rear glass is tinted, but the windshield is not. Therefore, more light is getting into the interior of the front of the car than the rear, which gives the appearance of different tint levels.
