Never had an S Class but I can see owning one in the future especially when it goes electric. Their interiors are wonderful. They depreciate like crazy, but then so do Teslas.

I was curious about the deprecation myself so I did a cursory search on ebay for sold 2013 Model S and MB S-Class cars. It seems that the residual value of the Model S is quite a bit higher than the S-Class.

I read a few of those posts and the naysayers come across as desperate, insecure, and shallow. Many of them are just plan lying about Teslas. Most Teslas don't rattle and rarely does anyone spend an hour charging at a Supercharger.

Sad really.

I'd also consider an S-class if it ever becomes an electric vehicle. I can't see depending on stinky gas stations anymore.

No playtime for me here

Never been interested in MB
Never been to a dealership
Don't notice when they drive by ... if they have ever driven by

In short, asking me why I don't buy a MB is like asking me why I don't buy a GM Aveo or go check out the local vinyl records shoppe.

I have never considered buying a MB. Until the Tesla, I never considered buying a car this expensive... I could afford it but no car was worth that amount of money... until Tesla. Best car I have ever owned and I am completely happy with my purchase (2+ years and 47,000 miles).

Same here. I drove Accords and Camrys prior to the Model S. The MBs, BMWs, Audis, etc. are obviously nicer cars, but at the end of the day I still had to unlock it, start it, tolerate engine lag and transmission shifts, put gas in it, change the oil, wonder if I needed to change the coolant or transmission fluid, warm up the engine,...you get the idea. My only regret with the Model S is that I didn't buy it sooner.

for many of us the tesla was a step down in creature comforts, but I suppose if you've never experienced a fine luxury car you have little basis for comparison

Well, at least in my case, I've ridden in MB's and BMW's plenty of times before. That said, luxury interior was pretty low on my list of priorities for the car(you'll notice from my sig that I didn't bother with upgrading the interior at all). The extreme safety of it was the absolute highest, since it was bought primarily for my wife and daughter.

They are obviously extremely jealous of the Tesla and need to come up with pathetic rationalizations for their bad decision to buy an old technology car which is lacking in so many areas.
I don't think we have that problem here.

I mean let's get real - the S class is an amazing car and can rival Tesla in many ways, obviously not the electric part. If the MS had the interior of a Mercedes S Class there would be no comparison. Tesla wins hands down. I think each model has its pluses and minuses. I wish Tesla would have nicer interiors and not miss some simple things.

I don't know about now, but when I bought my teslas there were no interior upgrades offered beyond the some of the trim.

Well my reason is that the Mercedes is ugly as crap, and I don't want to be associated with the type of people who drive them and cut you off on the freeway. Same goes for BMW. Never going to buy one.

Ah. Right now you can upgrade the seats(via the premium upgrades bundle thing), add steering wheel/rear seat warmers(subzero package) and pay for different colors/etc on the seats. I opted for plain black on the basic seats. Only change from the default I made was changing the trim to also be black(default was "alabaster"), and that only because it didn't cost any more.

even with the 'upgrades' of the tesla interior it is still quite spartan when put next to almost every other $100k out there.

MB will go electric in a few years ... then what will the S Class owners bitch about?

Correct, and an easy decision for me ... after 100K miles, the MB depreciates 65%, the Model S 48%
