Wifi turns off when in drive

It's been that way for a while. I believe they made it that way because people complained how the car would stay connected to their home wifi while they were driving away and when the signal became week songs wouldn't load and they would have to wait until they were out of range.

Apple figured out the same issue (phones also move out of range) by adding ‘Wi-Fi assist’ option. Obviously, this will not help for users without premium subscription.

But what Tesla can do is to allow a Mobile Hot-Spot Wi-Fi connection to be designated as such (one checkbox on per-Wi-Fi Network setting basis). Tesla will not disconnect you from such Wi-Fi when switching from P to D and instead continue working (but still disconnect from ofher networks). This I believe will make everyone happy.

EDIT: Submitted suggestion to Tesla. Will see if they at least respond with something meaningful.

This is being fixed... Tesla releases big, new software update with Disney+, Car Wash Mode, hotspot, and more

Remain connected to Wi-Fi in drive

Tesla is enabling the use of Wi-Fi hotspots when driving:

To remain connected to Wi-Fi when shifting into gear, tap the Wi-Fi icon > Wi-Fi Settings > Remain Connected in Drive. This is especially useful for users who wish to use their hotspots for connectivity.
This is a big deal for those who don’t want to pay for Tesla’s in-car premium connectivity features.
