Will 21" Plaid Arachnids fit on 2017 Model S? - Answer: No, they rub

My 2017 Model S has the 21" Turbines:
  • Size: 21X8.5" Front / 21x9.0" Rear
  • Offset: +40
  • PCD: 5X120
  • Center Bore: 64.1mm
My incoming Plaid has the 21" Arachnids:
  • Size: 21X9.5" Front, 21x10.5" Rear
  • Offset: +40 Front, +45 Rear
  • PCD: 5X120
  • Center Bore: 64.1mm
Everything says it should fit except for the width. I'm assuming the fenders of the Plaid are wider to fit the wider wheels, but just want to confirm. Could I feasibly put the Arachnids on my 2017?

I just installed the Plaid wheels on the refresh P100D for reference: There's no rubbing at full lock for me, but YMMV. There is a bit of tire-scrub at semi-full lock when traveling at 0-5mph because of the increased track width, which affects the scrub radius geometry for the turning wheels. No issues whatsoever once cruising at lowest suspension level.

I know this is old but I'm currently trying to do the same thing. Did you stay with the 245 front 265 rear tires or go larger on the Arachnid wheels?

Thanks for this. In theory then the original arachnids should fit the new Plaid. Just won’t be as wide as the new one.

So to clarify, no mods needed? Can you list your tire sizes? I think that was you that said it was 9.5” rims all around?
