Will car auto-brake if not in auto-pilot/cruise control?

12 day owner, loving my M3P.

If the car is not on auto-pilot/cruise control, will it start braking anyway if traffic comes to a sudden stop? My daughter's Subaru does that, but I'm not sure how to test it on the Tesla.

I know my car gives an audio alert if it thinks something is happening.

There’s a very easy way to test it if you want to know for sure, but I don’t recommend it lol.

Pretty sure mine has “helped” me a couple times when it didn’t know how much attention I was paying.

Automatic emergency braking, if enabled, will still happen.... but that's designed to mitigate a crash, not entirely prevent it.
