I assume you used some JB Weld on the wheel too, right?

Thought about just grinding the tip flush with rim and cold welding it since it seems that just about everybody is welding dissimilar metals these days but I was somewhat concerned about the integrity of the intermetalic transition zone.
btw, I am glad it didn't penetrate the sidewall making it irreparable.
I am very old (as in using a walker to get around) school and have experimented with M-B, Land Rover, Bentley, and both 18 (steel) and 19" (alloy) BMW donut wheels as I prefer to be self-reliant. I have always carried a light weight donut spare along with various other "equipment" since early '13 in the S.
