Since all X's are D's by design, with all that extra horsepower and efficiency, will a standard Model X out run a standard Model S? Will a Performance X beat the Performance S?
probably not, as the CD of the X will be far worse than the S (chart below shows Model S CD of .24) Automobile drag coefficient - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Tesla Model S - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I think not - heavier car and bigger CD as mitch points out will slow the car. The one option that I see leading to a (very temporarily) faster Model X is a bigger battery that can discharge electricity more faster. That still might not do the trick. Realize that we're talking about most of a 6,000 lb vehicle doing 0-60 in ~3.5 seconds I'd guess. I'm ok with being 10% slower
At the risk of derailing a perfectly sane conversation (sorry, I'm tired), I'd like to point out that the X also has wings, which the S does not. And those wings are capable of turbo boost and sustained glide.
Good gracious. What on earth is the rest of the vehicle going to be doing? Or perhaps I don't want to know.....
You've missed the falcon wing discussions? Really? Interesting evening, though. I did have a raptor (Red Tailed hawk) injured on my property & had to summon up the nerve to approach it and wrap it in a blanket, all the while it was puffing up and stretching out its wings to intimidate me, sitting on top of my woodpile. And the talons! OMG. Once the blanket was on it, it became pretty docile, happy to go into the large cardboard box I had ready for it - and then the local raptor rescue picked it up. See, it's not all about the forum. tg.
So basically, the point here is that everyone should wait until the Draco engine package becomes available. 0-60 in 0.01 seconds.
The x could be quicker if they do a saleen version of the x85d and run it with the p85d Saleen if you do, please dont add that motor whine sound like you did on that gorgeous but too noisy p85+ Bonnie, cool story with the hawk
I guess I deserve the abuse, trying to give a correct answer with actual facts to back it up. ok, I'll agree it's going to be faster... if it starts on the top of a mountain and a Bugatti Veyron gives it a good push
You must forgive us. The forum has been *difficult* of late & taking refuge and having a bit of fun in a normal thread is understandable.
yes, I understand... and another thing, I'm upset my 22 month old Model S is now a POS, I demand Tesla replace my car for free with the new "D", the gall of some people
