Is front window tint in New York illegal?

Pretty sure windshield tint is illegal in all states, aside from a little strip at the top of the windshield.

Basically.

"Section 375 (12-a) of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law does not allow a windshield or front side windows that are dark. The windshield and front side windows cannot block more than 30% of the light. Seventy percent or more of the light from the outside must pass through the window" (NYS DMV).

The allowed light blockage is basically the glass from the factory.

Well...they should fail inspection annually. But I guess they know sketchy shops. Or they have Florida plates.

Wexford, PA Tesla service center has a black Model S classic 70D loaner which has a tinted windshield, and it passed inspection.........that's how I actually noticed it at first as the sticker area has the tint all torn up and cut away... *shakes head*
