Windshield rock chips - wraps?

In the past 2 weeks I've had about 7 new rock chips in the windshield of my Honda Ridgeline. I've come to the conclusion that in they are unavoidable given I live in western Canada, and the way they deal with winter ice/snow on the roads is to salt/gravel the roads. I have a Model 3 on reserve, and am thinking forward to how annoying that will be. Does anyone have any experience with putting a clear wrap on the windshield to prevent damage? Is it effective? Does it change the glare/visibility? Thanks in advance!
