So I was in the area of the Oakville SC and I stopped in to see if they had the dark Tesla centre caps and the all weather mats (Tesla branded ones from Weathertech). I got the mats on the spot (put them in the car already and they look and feel great). They didn't have the caps though.

They told me that the centre caps sell out pretty quickly when they come in but I was able to put a hold on 4 when they come in. The service was great and I am slowly getting ready for November! Lol

I couldn't find a set at either the Lawrence or Mississauga Service centres. Will need to wait for them to come in.

Why not just ask them to order the caps directly for you or just have them shipped directly to you?

What's wrong with the OEM for both summer and Winter?
I have the 19 inch Primacy with rims fior summer and the 19 inch Michelin Ice for Winter.
Love the Tesla rims as they are. They stand out and are gorgeous.
I would never buy after market rims for such a nice car.

Are you running the same set of alloys for both summer and winter? Swapping tires on the same rims can be tough on the wheels (no matter how good your shop is)

One thing I didn't like about the slipstream wheel is the groove on the inside that just seems to collect water/slush in the winter.
Its still a great wheel - and maybe it was designed like that for a reason.

My understanding is that swapping tires on the same rims is neither good for rim nor tire.

I've always had winter rims and tires for my cars but I ageee I really like my OEM rims. My summer tires are the Goodyear tires which seem ok but nothing special.

No, I have separate OEM rims i bought in the States with relatively new Michelin ICE tires.
The rims for both seasons are the fabulous Slipstreams. Wouldn't have anything else.
Some people like the dark rims. Why? They don't draw attention to the wheels. Not enough contrast between the rims and the car. Besides, to me, the dark rims look like they are covered in brake dust!

Ah...that's different. I'd do that if I could find a good deal but I like the idea of dark rims because it changes the look of the car...almost creating the illusion that I get a new car with the change of season! ;)

We swap between the beautiful (to my eyes) Replika R187's in grey with summer tires to the OEM rims with winter tires. As has been outlined here, swapping tires on rims constantly degrades the tire. Since Kal Tire does the swap for no charge, it's going to be cheaper to have two sets of rims over the 4-5 years of tire life.

I couldn't go back to the stock rims after getting the Replikas originally just for my winter rims. In my opinion, they look a whole lot better while still keeping the stock look. My wife and kids also immediately said how much better the car looked when I got them and they never usually comment on stuff like that.

When it came time to go back to the summer OEM rims I couldn't do it so I bought another sets of Replikas. I also get Kal Tire to swap them over for free.

Anyone want to buy a stock set of rims?

Put in my order for my R187s on X-Ice 3 tires. Picked up my Tesla dark centre caps from Oakville SC today. I also got some Telsa symboled valve stem caps which look pretty cool.

Might be the first time I am actually excited to put on my winter tires!

Did you pick up TPMS?

I love my R187s and have actually used them as my summer. You will be very happy.

Yes, and just wait until you see how much better the car looks -- and how many people will comment on it. Someone even asked me if I got a new Tesla.

But just wait until summer rolls around and you are faced with putting the stock rims and summer tires back on. When that happened to me this past summer I bought another set of the R187's since I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

You only need the centre caps from Tesla. Universal TPMS work fine and the tire shop will know which one based on your VIN since Tesla changed them a couple of years ago.

OK, so it's now approaching that time of the year again. Since I'm looking again at 19" winter tires, I'm comparing the Michelin X-ICE3s to the Nokian Hakkapelitta R2s and wondering if anyone has had both and could explain any differences. I had the X-ICE3s on my previous Model S, so that is the default barring something stellar by the Hakkas. Any concerns about durability, wear, handling under various weather conditions? Any other potential good contenders that might be new for 2017?

I would look at the Hakka 8s and 9s as well. I thought they did studded and non studded versions of these.

I think I goofed...

Are there two different "dark" centre caps? I was looking at some of the pics in this thread and it seems the centre caps I got are black, not gun metal. When I ordered them I asked for the "dark" centre caps but I didn't say gun metal specifically.

I'm sorry I can't recall if there was a grey as well, but Good thing they are cheap and not priced like centre caps on a Porche.
