Wireless Charging Pad Defective?

Just had my SR Model Y delivered on Monday, and I am noticing some odd behavior with the wireless charging pad (old console). When I place my iPhone XR on the charging pad, the phone starts charging, but will stop charging (sometimes within a minute), even though the phone has not moved.

I have tried with the car parked in our driveway, and with or without a phone case, but the same issue exists.

However, I will say the phone was already 80-90% charged at the time I placed it on the charging pad, so I am not sure if the wireless charging pad only charges to a certain %.

Any input would be appreciated.

I think I figured out the problem - user error.

I've got a rectangular metal plate near the bottom of my phone, which I use to mount my phone in my wife's car, but it must have been interfering with the wireless charging because, once I removed that metal plate, the wireless charging pad began to work normally again.
