I'm not exactly sure why Tesla and Panasonic doing a deal has anything to do with battery overheating and longevity being on Tesla's "list". Please explain?

Because forum etiquette is to normally not revive threads that are over 2 or 3 years old. You could have started a new thread where you mentioned this. Or you could have searched and found out that Tesla actually addressed this problem in the way they designed the battery pack.
