TM forum member AI1 found an article about a supercharger under construction in Worthington, Minnesota. http://kwoa.com/news/2013/11/14/tesla-supercharge-station-under-construction-worthington-first-state It is located in the parking lot of the Ground Round Grill, 1290 Ryan's Road, which is about a block from the Humiston Road exit from I-90. This is 127 miles from the supercharger under construction in Mitchell, SD. The article also mentions that a supercharger is planned for Albert Lea, MN.

Excellent! Judging by the photograph, it will have at least five charging bays. This will connect with Mitchell, SD and Albert Lea, MN. However, there will need to be one in between Albert Lea, MN and Madison, WI.

Article says 8 spots:)
I was expecting Albert Lea first, but am thrilled to see the first MN supercharger under construction!

It's 174 miles from my place. You can make it; if I'm around and not working, I'll be there. Go 55mph. In a Tesla, people pass you and wave no matter what your cruising speed is. I know you, J. You've figured out the drive already. You know exactly what speed to go and the route, and you've probably got a bell curve of possible range situations. Believe in your math and step out on this tightrope with me; do the drive, you're ready. Get out of your head and drive!

To J and Vexar:

Reading your posts is a kind of tonic for me. Your caring and nurturing comments seem to reflect a certain Minnesota state of mind -- so supportive and encouraging, and I think people like you! They also remind me a little of Liesl and Rolfe the Mailman in "The Sound of Music" -- gentle parrying that will lead who-knows-where.

Someday, whether in Mankato or Toronto or Albert Lea, I hope your paths La Crosse.

Absolutely awesome!

I have reliable info that there will be one in Mauston WI. Much less reliable is that there may also be one in or near La Crosse.

I am in La Crosse almost daily so I'll keep my eyes open. The logical place would seem to be the HWY 16 Mall parking lot as it's right off I90. I wouldn't have thought one would be logical based in La Crosse on the original Tomah location rumor but given Mauston, WI and now Austin, MN location, La Crosse seems to make sense. Additionally the Mall parking lot is a perfect location with numerous restaurants and stores. It seems that 75-125 miles is the distance that Tesla is using for SC locations now versus the 175-225 original distance between SCs. This is makes road trips much easier (especially in colder weather with higher battery use).

I m really hoping this means additional chargers around the Minneapolis area as up to this point there hasn't been an indication that there would be a SC within 75 miles of MSP or St. Paul. This making road trips to MSP quite difficult.

Any specific location in La Crosse, let me know and I'll check it out and post.
Cheers.

I hope they put one up between the Twin Cities and Duluth (Hinckley, maybe?). We have no issues going there in the summer (80+mph) and I am hoping that we will make it there alright tomorrow doing 70mph, with the heat set to 68, and outside temperatures in the 20s.

I am a little concerned for the Model X, however. With more weight and worse aerodynamics, we may have a problem unless they introduce a 100kWh battery to compensate. Or a supercharger. Or we can have Tobie's put up a couple EV chargers of their own. May chat with them about this tomorrow. :)

I spoke with an electrical contractor that put a bid in for car chargers at Grand Casino Mille Lacks this summer.

I am hoping Hinckley is doing the same.
While not super chargers, they will at least give you a bit of a boost on the way.

I never knew about Grand Casino in Hinckley. Thanks for that! They apparently have a large RV Park with 50A NEMA outlets right next to them, so that's great to know. They say it's $20 to plug in. I guess, we can go and have lunch at the Casino while the car is being charged. I just plain refuse to make any compromises in the Tesla - not going below the speed limit and not wearing gloves inside the car. :)
Thanks!

Some of us are more adventurous than others. Pulling off 280 wh/mi in a 22F temp with a snowstorm through the hills, yeah, it was cold, and I did have to wear gloves and drive 55, but I made 182 miles on a 194 mile charge. I certainly don't prefer the situation, but I am saying it can be done, and I'd rather have an adventure than not drive my Tesla because the infrastructure is still a week away.

Not a chance! I just don't have the patience for 55mph. :)

With temps in the teen range, cruise control set to 75mph, climate at 68F, 19" Michelin winter tires, 500 lbs of 3 passengers and cargo, we managed to drive 160 miles with 61kWh. Averaged 380W/mi. Better than we hoped.
