MsElectric, AR, Kugerrand and Johan discuss TMC moderation

some posts from people trying to calm the situation were also swept up in it.

Another moderation hint - and to give a little perspective and just to note, some of us already were simultaneously participating in the WSJ-equivalent thread in News when this thread went off a tangent after MsElectric's and Johan's comments and mine and Krugerrand's response:

No future schlock - WSJ's review of the Tesla P85D

I guess that's why it didn't feel like that harmful to be on a tangent. :) Apologies.

FYI, here was a really useful comment in the WSJ article. Keep this one available to spread the word.
Do the critics of electric car tax breaks want to eliminate all of the tax breaks and subsidies that the oil industry gets? Why should the oil and nuclear industry get lots of tax breaks, loan guarantees, and subsidies while green technology companies like Tesla don't get them?

I reckon the reason there's so many subsidies for oil is because of both a combination of self-conflicts-of-interest with high ranking officials as well as campaign funders along with the nations extremely high dependency on oil for our economy. Need incentives to keep the nation functioning and on top. We need to break that dependency. I'm no expert but my guess would be 100% EV's nationwide would only put a small dent on that dependency. We need more solar/wind/clean nuclear sources of energy.
