WSJ - Tesla Presses Its Case on Fuel Standards

Interesting read: Tesla Presses Its Case on Fuel Standards - WSJ

“We are about to hear a lot of rhetoric that Americans don’t want to buy electric vehicles,” Mr. O’Connell said in an interview ahead of a Tuesday presentation in Traverse City, Mich. “From an empirical standpoint, the [regulations] are very weak, eminently achievable and the only thing missing is the will to put compelling products on the road.”

If you hit paywall, Google the title of the thread!
The Michigan talks are probably much ado about nothing, it seems like fed regs, predict not much will happen, perhaps benefits (congestion reduction) from auto braking will be added.

about the same time CARB is also reviewing lowering their standards, that could be big, currently PHEVs earn some credits, and EVs earn other credits, automakers like Toyota want to be able to use more PHEV credits and less EV credits, they are hoping to the extent that allows them to not sell EVs at all (ie just sell H2 cars and plugin Prius)
