The Michigan talks are probably much ado about nothing, it seems like fed regs, predict not much will happen, perhaps benefits (congestion reduction) from auto braking will be added. about the same time CARB is also reviewing lowering their standards, that could be big, currently PHEVs earn some credits, and EVs earn other credits, automakers like Toyota want to be able to use more PHEV credits and less EV credits, they are hoping to the extent that allows them to not sell EVs at all (ie just sell H2 cars and plugin Prius)
The article has 3400 upvotes on Reddit, yet the top comments in the /r/technology subreddit are extremely negative towards Tesla: Tesla, unlike every other car company, is soon going to start arguing publicly for higher fuel efficiency standards. : technology The #1 comments is crazy: "Huge corporations lobbying to make their product compete better in the marketplace?
