X locks itself with keyfob inside

ok wtf moment just happened. Only had the car for a week. I was on my driveway and left the key inside and closed the door. As I walked away the damn thing locked itself. Thank gawd my girl was home with the second key. ‍ Wtf!

Not sure how that would happen unless the battery died or the fob picked that particular time to go brain dead.

A couple of quick tests:

• A number of times my battery was still good but my fob went brain dead. Took out the battery and after a few seconds replaced it and all was well. This went on for about 6 months and the SC finally decided to replace both fobs as it repeated about 3 times
• If you can wrangle a voltmeter you can test to see if the battery still puts out 3V
