Yoke Steering/On Screen Transmission selector

Has anyone seen or driven a Model S Refresh with the on screen transmission selector? The automotive press is questioning the legality of this change and the reviews are not good. Motor Trend calls it a "bad idea". Has anyone seen how it works?

Supposedly approved by NHTSA. Also it is said that shifting will also be accomplished by the right accessory control wheel on the steering wheel (whether it is round or a yoke).
