Hey community!

I could use your advice.

I have a 2016 Model S (June, post-facelift, pre-AP2) on a 3 year lease that expires in (you guessed it), June 2019.

I like my car a lot, but am not sure what to do come end-of-lease.

Do I:
  1. Lease into whatever new Model S hotness is on the market come June ‘19?
  2. Buy my own car outright?
  3. Buy a Model 3?
  4. Buy some other muggle car and fondly remember my 3 year midlife “Wizard” crisis?
Thanks for your intuition gang.

I face the same question, but 9 months from now. In my opinion, you are way ahead of yourself. The options may change by the time you need to make a decision. More EVs will be available, the tax rebates may change and will likely be reduced, the market value of used Model S cars will adjust to the availability of Model 3, etc. Relax for now, enjoy your Model S, and try not to think too much about it for another 6-9 months, at least!
