Your Experience with Accuracy of Delivery Date

Discussion in 'Model X' started by Seattle Tom, Feb 5, 2017.

?

My delivery month was:

  1. Spot on. The month I selected is when I got my X

    50.0%
  2. Wrong. I got my X EARLIER than the month I selected

    10.0%
  3. Wrong. I got my X LATER than the month I selected.

    40.0%
  4. Other. I changed my delivery month on my own or agreed with my OA to move the date

Hi, all. I was hoping for some help in planning costs for a new Tesla.

All things equal (eg, assuming they don't close the factory for some kind of HW3!) is the delivery date you selected when you actually took delivery of your X? Or did Tesla miss the requested timeframe?

Thanks for considering answering the poll!

By the way, I did search for this since I figured others would have asked. Only found one thread for mid 2016 and it didn't have a lot of data...anyway, thanks!

    Read this thread:
    Model X December Deliveries

Experiences are all over the place. Lots of people ordered in Sept being told 6 weeks and it took 12+. However, some people ordered in Nov and got their cars in Nov, ahead of September orders.

Ultimately, assume you will get your car on the last day of a quarter. They prioritize Asia, then Europe, then East Coast USA, then West Coast USA within a quarter. Last quarter, basically nobody on the West Coast got their cars from Sept-Dec, and then everyone got them in Mid to Late December.

Do NOT buy a custom ordered Tesla if you need it by a certain date. And expect that your delivery specialist will be pretty worthless until the car is actually in Seattle, at which point they will suddenly want you there ASAP. It's not the best experience, but it's the way it works right now.

    You using Bellevue or Seattle?

I had been to Seattle many times so I'm sure I'm associated to the sales guy there (I won't mention his name here...not for any other reason than I don't know if it's appropriate). So he certainly deserves the commission for my sale.

BUT the new Bellevue store (not the one in the mall) is so much more convenient, has so much more space, that I really want delivery there. Haven't worked that part out yet. :)

And I don't need the car by a certain date - I just don't want it to arrive before we've finished taxes and saved the last bit of money to buy it.

Tesla sales is not commission. I bought from the Seattle store and had it delivered at Bellevue. They don't care.
