"(As the batteries continue to be used, the car's range should increase to up to 35 miles.)" Wow, physics must work differently in New Jersey!
Interesting article which explains why EEstor hooked up with Zenn instead of a larger car company: Why EEstor Hooked Up With Zenn Earth2Tech
Damn straight, that's why nobody likes this state, our different physic laws are always messing the traditional ones up . That lady in the article actually lives like 5 minutes away from me, I didn't realize there were electric cars in NJ . Going back to that statement, I'm wondering if it is like a reverse of when you overcharge your phone battery or start charging it after way (the memory factor thing)? That or the journalist is just a moron (which wouldn't surprise me :tongue. -Shark2k
EEStor patent reveals details of ultracap..., but do they have a working prototype? New Patent Reveals Details of EEStor’s Ultracapacitor Technology : Gas 2.0 "Apparently one EESU weighs 281 pounds, has a volume of 2.63 cubic feet, can be fully charged in 3-6 minutes, is completely unaffected by temperature, will not explode or catch fire in an accident, and provides 52 kWh of electricity (nearly the same amount of energy the Tesla Roadster battery can hold, which reportedly takes the Roadster about 240 miles)."
It looks like the Easter Bunny is not going to deliver EESCAM's I mean EEStor's ceramic battery to ZENN for Easter. Maybe Santa will deliver it by end of year. Don't bet the farm on it
Journalists, reporters and editors are not exactly known for being brilliant. Look at their career choices and the industry they are in. It has been obvious for a long time that print newspapers and magazines are on a dead end path to bankruptcy. Yet these twits still thought it was a good idea to go massively into debt with student loans for a journalism degree.
Chris, According to Dick Weir CEO of EESTOR "Prototypes have been built and prototypes have been tested"...but no independant 3rd party has seen and or tested any prototype from EESTOR. Dick Weir has been working on prototypes since 2001.
Dick Weir CEO of EESTOR made the comment that prototypes exist to the blogger with the bag over his head. No one outside Dick Weir's fantasy world has seen any working prototypes. EESTOR has been scamming people since 2004. The following is from UFTO: "A number of major companies have said they would issue a purchase order quickly if specs are met. The company is currently seeking equity investment of $3.5 million. A business plan is available. Contact Richard D. Weir, President and CEO EEStor, Inc. Cedar Park, TX 512-258-5669 [email protected]" Evidently specs have not been met. How come Tesla did not sign with EESTOR to supply the ceramic batteries?
I can answer this question. Tesla is taking the approach of finding the cheapest and most well known/tested battery cells for their cars, which means commodity cells. Unlike many of the other EV companies that popped up, Tesla is actually building cars, so they can't rely on batteries which are not going to be ready until a few years down the road (if at all). Even for the projected 300 mile pack on the Model S, their projections are based on specs of higher capacity 18650 cells which have existed for a couple of years already.
ZENN Motor Company's Strategic Partner, EEStor, Inc., Announces Permittivity Results (Zenn's ZNN.V stock more than doubled in the past week)
They did not mention under what condition the permitivity was tested. There was little dispute that the dielectric permitivity is very high when the electric field is low.
I blogged on this. I welcome your comments. Darryl Siry's Blog: ZENN and the art of EESTOR hype maintenance
It's sad because I want to believe. Wow on the stock jump. Darryl, Check the read on the last sentence of your first "Me" quote.
