Can the Tesla charging cable be used in the rain?

My brother has been charging outdoors with a mobile connector for 6 years with no problems. The body of the mobile connector is mounted to a post and completely exposed to the elements, and it’s plugged into an extension cord that is also completely exposed. No electrical or moisture issues...

Thieves steal high-voltage Tesla Supercharger cables from Montrose(Houston) charging station

JFC! 😲 Idk what crazier/stupider… cutting a cable that’s energized or cutting a cable connected to a car with a driver sitting inside it. 🤦‍♂️

Thieves steal high-voltage Tesla Supercharger cables from Montrose(Houston) charging station

Who wants to volunteer and estimate how much money they’ll be able to get for the copper. Not it! 😏

What battery cells are in the 2023 M3 LR?

The Treasury dept had simply delayed implementing some of the battery content restrictions until 2024 to give them and automakers time to work out all the details. It was unrelated to the aforementioned incremental increases in the minimum percentages of battery minerals/components from North...

    2024 Eclipse Roadtrip Supercharger Experiences?

Given the highly unusual traffic patterns on and around April 8th 2024 (the day of the eclipse) with people driving to/from the path of totality, I thought it would be valuable/interesting to create a thread for people to share their experiences, particularly any congestion (or lack thereof)...

    Illinois rebate program

Wow. The rebates are being awarded real slow. Only 306 in the past 3 weeks according to the figures on the website. Unless they pick up the pace significantly, it’ll take months before the rest get awarded.

Tesla blesses other cars blocking two stalls due to short cord

I'm quite intrigued by how this all works with the adapter (although my understanding is certainly impeded by a lack of fully understanding how the existing CCS communication protocols work in practice. But with that said...) In the video that you linked here, the "Director of Charging...

Tesla blesses other cars blocking two stalls due to short cord

V3 Superchargers have liquid cooled cables, so any extension cable would have to be extra thick and heavy to carry the same current without overheating. And I’m guessing it would also probably require temperature sensors at one or both ends to throttle the current in case of overheating at the...

Tesla blesses other cars blocking two stalls due to short cord

That link isn't working for me. It got hyperlinked weird. This should work: https://www.tesla.com/findus?v=2&bounds=54.31521760104852,-58.133790250000004,21.940969366305985,-140.39941525&zoom=5&filters=supercharger,nacs,party

Ford says owners can start using superchargers today (Feb 29)

You also need to consider that due to charge port locations a Ford plugging in to a Supercharger will often block 2 stalls intead of just 1.

Why do you like your Tesla?

Sure. My point was just that as other OEMs get access to the Supercharger Network, there will be less reason to specifically buy a Tesla over one of those other OEMs specifically for DC charging.

Why do you like your Tesla?

The Supercharger Network + fast and reliable DC charging would've been another good choice in this poll. Although that unique benefit to Tesla will be significantly diminished over the coming years as other OEMs adopt NACS and get access to significant portions of the Supercharger Network.
