Late winter California Road Trip, 2024

OHNO YOU MISSED BODHI! Next time, check it out. A good ghost town, up north by bridgeport. Next time you're in Bishop, check out the mountain rambler brewery. GOOOD hamburgers. The beer is absolutely fantastic at the June Lake Brewery (just N of Mammoth), HOWEVER, no matter how many times I...

Mountain and Winter Supercharging Issues (CA SR108 SC desert)

Thank you so much for letting us know about Sonora. That will be super-helpful. I definitely see your point about power "midway-ish", but -There are definitely loads of gas stations "midway-ish". (look on google; if you zoom in enough they appear.), and EVs need more locations than gas...

Mountain and Winter Supercharging Issues (CA SR108 SC desert)

Thank you so very much for that info. You said the bridgeport non-Tesla works well. I looked it up on plugshare, and it was an EA. Then I went to the EA site and the FAQ had about 36 questions that were relevant, and they were incapable of saying, "HERE'S THE SIMPLEST WAY TO CHARGE: DO...

Mountain and Winter Supercharging Issues (CA SR108 SC desert)

The in-Tesla menu allowing listing of L2 NACS chargers had one at "Twain Harte", at a B&B. On arrival it had a hand-written "out of order" sign on it, a sure sign that no one gives a poop. I have no idea how to report this to Tesla as dead, but it's listed as non-working with a wrench ("under...

Mountain and Winter Supercharging Issues (CA SR108 SC desert)

There is a post about the longest gaps in miles between superchargers on interstates. This is a bit different - this is about getting over mountain passes with enough juice to make it to the other side. There are two things against the driver here: First, gravity - not so many miles, but lots...

    FSD free trial

We have awful construction, totally nuts pedestrians/scooters/skateboards/wheel things/you name it, bad traffic, people and commercial vehicles stopping... it just does an absolutely amazing job. Having said that... They've cracked the first really big complicated problem of robotics ... and...

Minor windshield divots -Tesla Service good?

I believe minor windshield divots and very small cracks are repaired with transparent resins. It should not be a big deal. Has anyone had this done by Tesla? What was cost/ time? Would it make sense save money to have it done 3rd party?

Worst (and Best) superchargers (Mammoth, CA is awful)

That's the point - I don't go to mammoth for skiing. I go to Lee Vining for climbing. Ya, it's more than 6 hours in winter, but OMG the drive is GORGEOUS. Not just around mono lake, but the Carson valley region is quite beautiful. -TPC

What new Supercharger site do you want the most? Supercharger voting 1Q2024

Thanks for reminding us about our brethren across the world. Solidarity in fighting climate change with EVs, a world problem for all living things on earth! Solidarity in getting Tesla to replace every last gas station with SCs, a problem for Tesla owners and anyone with compatible connectors...

Worst (and Best) superchargers (Mammoth, CA is awful)

OMG - I had no idea. Thanks so much for this. (Though it's a little crazy to have two in one town a couple blocks from each other, one really terrible and the other good.)

What new Supercharger site do you want the most? Supercharger voting 1Q2024

OK, first I have to thank you big time because I was not aware there were V3 chargers down the road from the awful ones. THANKS AGAIN! However, ... If I am only doing stuff at LV and north, that adds 60 miles of wasted driving every time I want more juice to tool around the area from my base...

Worst (and Best) superchargers (Mammoth, CA is awful)

In the UK forum there is a forum there is a post "Worst and Best Superchargers". We might just hope that Tesla would see one for the US and occasionally act on it??? Maybe someone could make this a sticky topic? Here's my kudos and complaints in CA----------- To be fair, many SCs are very...

What new Supercharger site do you want the most? Supercharger voting 1Q2024

Summary: ***We really need a set of good, modern 250 kW (no sharing) chargers in Lee Vining, CA***. The chargers in the region are terrible, and this is a very remote place, with no other real options, very long distances between the terrible chargers, yet, this is a very popular recreation...

    371 Wh/km (600 Wh/Mile) consumption in the deep freeze

No one's gonna say that AK is small. But to be fair, San Francisco to Moab is 967 mi, and that was basically a pandemic right of passage. ( @#)$^@(*#&$^ me because I didn't get my MY until long after.) It's much farther to Yellowstone, I believe. Also, consider drives in just one lil' 'ol...

    371 Wh/km (600 Wh/Mile) consumption in the deep freeze

Hey, thanks so much for your info on camping in the winter. I sleep in my MYLR AWD all the time. My partner and I sleep in real sleeping bags, and these are comfortable only in the 50's or 40's F. So, our problem is that the lowest temp you can set (60F? I forget) is waaaay above that. I think...
