Any ideas why I'm seeing big drops in production?

That's a pretty telling graph. Since you have good history production data shows the problem I would just open a support ticket in the app and reference those days.

Any ideas why I'm seeing big drops in production?

Instantaneous readings can be misleading. When the system is doing a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) sweep it can show really voltage/current because by definition it is trying to find where the maximum power point is. You should look at energy output for a longer period of time (say a...

Help me understand my true-up and strategy for next year

You are correct, you need to reduce your NBC's. Let's assume that NBCs are roughly 0.025/kWh. Based on your NBC charge, you imported around 19,830 kWh. Your actual net usage was 4560 kWh If you only imported what you actually needed, then the difference in cost is about $380 of NBCs (I'm...

Tesla (Solar City) lease coming to and end choosing among the options

I'm on NEM-MT (which translates to effectively NEM2). What is unclear is how PG&E will treat the system. I have a newer system (2021) and it appears that the NEM clock reset when they were installed. I don't think they can split the systems (they certainly don't have instrumentation...

Tesla (Solar City) lease coming to and end choosing among the options

Possibly, that was my original bet. I had predicted that I could get it for free. If NEM 3.0 had not happened in California I might have tried for it. I didn't want to risk having to install a replacement system and trigger NEM 3.0 for my other solar.

I just paid. In my Tesla account the document associated with system/site is now just the purchase agreement.

I went with option A. I tried to negotiate but couldn't get anywhere. So far, so good.

    Tesla Solar Rental purchase

If it is at the end of the lease, they should give you a price. The place I expect to have leverage is if the contract has the free removal option at the end. Removing the system makes no sense for them, it is all expense. There is almost zero salvage value. It is in their interest to give...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Zero intervention drive from home to work. Not the first time. I drove onto the street and activated FSD. All surface streets. A couple of notable moments. There was a car was slow leaving the road way turning right into a driveway. The car didn't do any panic maneuvers. It barely slowed...

    Tesla Solar Rental purchase

If it's at the end of the contract, the pricing is reasonable. I purchased my "leased" system last year. I looked into buying out the leased system *early* in the life of a system for an investment property. That didn't much sense since the buyout price was the basically the same as the...

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

Hrmmm, I might be in an odd state. I have several sites associated with my account at the same address due to purchases at different times. I had been working with support give me the ability to see the PV production system installed 4 years ago. Until recently, I only could see the aggregate...

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

Interesting, I unenrolled and then reenrolled, went into application pending about 2 weeks and today I see that I'm back in. My screen looks identical (the fleet home count) but I don't see an event today. It's possible, I'm "late" to this party. It's also possible that my system just...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I've seen (as others) this behavior. It was one of the nice improvements in V12, it isn't perfect but does pretty well.

As long as I'm still the driver in command I don't mind the "nags" which aren't really nags to me. Even as a "supervisor" I need be aware and alert. I consider having to be "engaged" with the system is an important safety benefit. Of course, I want "unsupervised" FSD at some point.

PowerWall 3 with optimizers or microinverters

Yes, this is sometimes true. But not nearly as often as most people think. Non-optimal roof planes these days may not be as bad as people think. You could also go down the rabbit hole of calculating the value of a given kWh delivered. For example, there is potentially an increased value of...

PowerWall 3 with optimizers or microinverters

As I understand it, Powerwall 3 Specifications (tesla.com), there 6 MPPTs (Maximum Power Point Tracking) inputs on PW3. So, it could easily handle 6 different roof planes for MPPT purposes. Bypass diodes would for the most part take care of shading of individual panels as long as the total...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I got to drive our Model Y again today. It seems to confirm my earlier impression, our Y, using the same software and settings, feels significantly more "assertive" that our Model 3. Assertive in this case means stopping and starting faster (more aggressive). Autospeed seems to get to higher...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I've seen this behavior several times. It's not perfect but compared to V11 basically infinitely better. I don't think V11 had this programmed. It appears to be emergent behavior from training. Another variant of this is not entering an intersection unless there is going to room to clear...

    Charging two Teslas

I got a chance to test this weekend. The screen shots show one car "charging on solar" and the other one "waiting". https://photos.app.goo.gl/78etaYiQt9qR5t6s6

    Charging two Teslas

Charge on solar doesn't actually care about the EVSE (charging station). It works with non-Tesla charging stations (i.e. I have Tesla cars but not Tesla charging stations). It is entirely coordinated between the cars and the PV system. So, it should work. I've never had both cars plugged...

    Charging two Teslas

You could probably use two mobile connectors if your panel supports them (they don't have to both full power) if you are using charge on solar.
  23. arnolddeleon

    Charging two Teslas

Why do you think having two wall connectors does not work? First you said "simultaneously" which in my understanding means at the same time. Two wall connectors will do that. If you want to charge them sequentially, then something from features described below will likely do it. For example...

Did you own any other brand of EV before getting a Tesla?

I think the oldest OEM made EVs from the late 20th century that you could buy (versus lease only) might be the Ford Ranger EV. From the same era are the original Toyota RAV EVs. The first EV I owned was a 2002 RAV4-EV, we became a two EV family with a 2011 Nissan LEAF and then replaced the...

How To Setup Charge on Solar

For me, charge on solar generally takes precedence over charging the Powerwalls. I'm GUESSING that Tesla takes amount of solar, historical usage to try come up with an "optimal" strategy. I don't have any schedules. This week I had issues where our Y was having trouble "connecting" to the...

2020 MY - TeslaCam Dashcam - USB no longer recognized

I've experienced the same issue. I took our 2020 Model Y to service last week. They replaced the driving computer (for other errors) and the "USB Hub". It was working when I picked it up. But it stopped working again a few days ago (likely after I upgraded to 2023 based version of V12). I...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

My profile this morning had a toggle that asked if I wanted to enable FSD Supervised. This in on my profile that has had FSD enabled for quite a while now. Looking in settings confirmed that was not disabled and I needed to enable it again. As far as I know the car software hasn't changed, it...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Our Y was having issues with USB so I took it in for service. Unlike, last weeks loaner which FSD beta, this weeks loaner didn't have FSD enabled and it had ancient software. I missed having FSD beta/supervised. Service had noted driving computer errors so they replaced that as part of the...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

In this case, yes. The stopped car had looked like it was signaling a left turn where there was a median. We were far enough back to have good situational awareness. I could see it clearly enough and early that I was anticipating what the action would have been. V11 would have driven up...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I finally got to take 12.3.3 for a drive. Most of my V12 driving had been with 12.3 and short stint with 12.3.1 on a loaner. TL;DR; There were magic moments. As a driver assist, I think I can see why it might have reached a "good enough" for a launch. Average mode Auto Set Speed Offset...
  33. arnolddeleon

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I don't remember the offset percentage/amounts from previous drives. We did a kitten transport drive, so I got some freeway driving in today, it was 10% for "average". (72 in a 65 zone). The conditions weren't conducive to running experiments to get the other values. The offset only gets...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I'm not sure if you are making a distinction between "surface streets" and "freeway mode". With Auto Speed Set Enabled and while driving on the freeways (w/ V11 for controls) the Max Speed is definitely affected by chill/moderate/assertive mode. The setting only affects the Max speed at speed...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Am I confused, is there another place where you can set it to be "aggressive"? The only setting I know of is "chill/average/assertive". Or is this case of a collective projection of assertive = aggresive?
  37. arnolddeleon

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Definitely easy to discern, however the max settings are still computed according to your driving profile (chill, average, assertive) if you have Automatic Set Speed Offset enabled. So, you will see a different Max Speed value compared. The tell for "V11" is that there is visible value...

Support for hardware 2FA security keys

Moderately so. It's better security. I rarely need to login because of the keep me logged in option. But if a site is going go through the trouble of offering MFA then it should support HW tokens.

Is charge on solar logic flawed?

Sustained? Did you let it run a while and look at the accumulated data? Instantaneous readouts can be misleading. Is the car below the minimum charge level for "charge on solar"? I don't think that's case in the screenshot because only 1 kW is going to the car. Is the battery below the...

Early in the life of our model Y this used to happen (2020). Use the voice command "bug report" to have the car save logs. I don't remember what service did to resolve our issue but hasn't happened in years.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

V12.3 seems to have a better spacing between cars (at least front to back). Specifically, in Berkeley, CA today the car left the "KEEP CLEAR" section clear appropriately. I thought it might just be luck but shortly after that it correctly closed the gap to the vehicle in front when there...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I forgot to one other behavior change with V12.3.1 (possibly V12.3 as well, I don't remember) is lane selection east bound on Evelyn Ave here. V11 always would dive to the left lane when Evelyn switches from one lane to two lanes. Today it nicely stayed in the right lane (which I think is the...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I have a weird issue non-driving (well you can't drive with it), don't know if it is a 12.3 vs 12.31.1 thing or just a thing with the cars. We have a 3 and Y and as far as I could tell the seat positions for those were independent. Well with a loaner 3 in my account, I've discovered that Tesla...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Ok, for the drive home I got a chance to look at it more. I think I was NOT initially in autospeed. There might have been some momentary confusion between the cloud profile and the car. Since our cars were at 12.3 and the loaner was at 12.3.1. It looks like the settings were reset to...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I dropped off our Y for service. The model 3 loaner provided has 12.3.1 installed and FSD enabled. I was in a hurry to get to work and didn't have time to check/tweak all the settings so I got whatever was transferred with the cloud profile. The drive from the service to work was fine. There...
