Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

While I'm sure Apple's presentation emphasized some aspects, there's indeed some question as to whether Apple wholly devloped this themselves, and to what degree interfaces and/or code developed by other's is bing embedded at the OS level...

    SpaceX Starship - IFT-5 - Starbase TX - Pre-Launch Preparations Thread

Multiple possible reasons: - They thought the most recent attachment mechanisms would suffice - The ablative underlayment option was conceived/developed after the ship was tiled - They anticipated needing more data, but got sufficient data from IFT-4 - Etc... SpaceX is not one to not press...

Well, I think he feels like he should get paid what was previoulsy agreed to... and by the BOD, by the way. The implication is that at some point you aren't allowed personal endeavors? Where exactly IS that threshold?

I interpreted @Brass Guy 's question as being the reason for the seperation mechanism, being hot staging is that it allows greater perfomace for the 2nd stage (never stop thrusting), as opposed to the flip of the booster, which is needed for return...

I'm not sure what this is saying. That Elon fires anybody who disagrees with him? They've admitted they've gone back to square one multiple times on FSD... so I'm not sure I get the intended point?

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

A number of other folks have commented, several of which have similar sentiments to mine... rather than respond to this point by point, I'll just offer that I think Elon is a different animal than just about anybody we've seen before that's running companies like this. His mental outlook is...

That has "plausible deniability" written all over it. Can he find some evidence others engineered the actual event?: Quite possible. Is that the same as saying he was unaware or didn't direct them to do so?: Most certainly not.
  16. scaesare

Wiki Super Heavy/Starship - General Development Discussion

Yeah... I've argued much the same... Musk does a mental first-principles analysis of what should be possible and then sets that as the goal.

Here's to hoping "3 years" isn't the new "2 weeks", lol... And the new FAA guidelines allowing to aim for follow on launch in a month is great.

    Elon Musk - SpaceX version

Hehe... zombie threads never die! I think that's one of the fundamental differences with Elon. He's invested in this as he's sees at as much a moral/principle issue as he does a business one. So while many business folks will embrace strange bedfellows if it helps the bottom line, Elon sees it...

SpaceX Starship - IFT-4 - Starbase TX - Launch Thread and Post Launch Discussion

I dunno... these are the folks that edited together the "How not land an orbital class booster" supercut of F9 failures... I don't think Elon & Co. really gives a rat's derriere if folks want to nit pick stuff like that. I tend to think it was a quick & dirty edit to give folks a little...

    Elon Musk - SpaceX version

Wow... reply to a 7 month old post... had to go back and see what the heck we were even talking about, lol. I think the point I was trying to make was that political (and media) "slants" on Elon are very arbitrary, when they are represented as being based on facts/data... hence you have Mary...

Yeah, the NSF folks seem to be all over that, posting flight and mariner notices and tracks... was hoping somebody might know if they had something in the area. Drone would be interesting... Door Handle Extended Problem

I'm amazed that the infrastructure that's relatively close by survives 20 million lbs of thrust... Yeah... I wonder if that thing landed on skeleton flaps. The roll control authority looked outstanding... they definitely fixed the issues from IFT-3 in that regard.
  35. scaesare

SpaceX Starship - IFT-4 - Starbase TX - Launch Thread and Post Launch Discussion

Did he state "only" one flap damaged though? Kinda hard to imagine the others also weren't, they just may have had immediate video for the one, and have to go over telemetry for the others

I was hoping they might switch as well... I suspect it may have gotten cooked...
