I thought it was only MYP from Germany, but I might be wrong as I haven't really been following Model Y.

EU likely to impose 25% import tariff's on cars from China

Currently not for the UK though afaik. They could switch but only making a small number of RHD in that factory might increase costs anyway ?

2ND Brand new M3LR Highland with vibration ! Anyone else with the same car?

Wouldn't it make it more likely ? Pressure applied to the tyre through being strapped down and a high pressure means that it's mainly going to be the rubber that deforms. I'm no tyre scientist though.

EU likely to impose 25% import tariff's on cars from China

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cpww6w412n7o I would expect that the UK would be likely to do the same, and that Tesla would be effected ? I would suspect that anyone thinking of buying a new Tesla might want to consider timing, and perhaps used Tesla might see some small improvement in...

2ND Brand new M3LR Highland with vibration ! Anyone else with the same car?

What do Tesla say ? As per Jonnoy there are lots of reports of tyres being flat spotted in transport recently, which seems more common than it was in the past for some reason, different tyres maybe.

    Surprise at Glasgow Service Centre

It's a stupid category of vehicle for anything but agricultural use, but also one that is the most popular in the US. I dislike it just as much as I hate all other stupid US trucks. The Ford e-Transit is far more likely to be something we see on our roads.

    Key fob...no trick pony?

The things that are working are the things that work without power, when did it last work ? I killed a keyfob by dunking it in the sea, they aren't waterproof. It still opened the car as you describe.

Perhaps just being contrary, but I thought the regen meter is significantly more noticeable than before, distracting even. I preferred it how it was before as it seemed easier to ignore, now its always bouncing around in the area of the screen I pay attention to.

    World record light show ?

Tesla released a tool to allow you to build your own shows synchronising all the lights, windows, boot opening with your own music, as such there are now whole libraries of custom shows people have made. You save them onto a USB stick and plug that into the socket in the glovebox See GitHub -...

It doesn't really work like that, the car checks everytime it wakes up and Tesla will wake the car to tell it there's an update waiting. There's no benefit in any actions you can take. The one exception to this is if the car does not have Wifi then the app won't notify you to install the...

Is there any difference between Pilot Sport 4 and Pilot Sport 4 acoustic tyres?

I was at Sarn on Saturday, there's absolutely nothing happening there that would indicate an expansion. There was some work happening there just before Easter that closed some stalls, but it wasn't anything to do with SuperChargers, just running a cable past. That's now finished and everything...

    Few Model S/Tesla Questions...

Not on a 2015 Model S It was with Model 3 and then new vehicles that they made a viable key solution using a phone. On the older cars like Model S you could still unlock the car if both you and the car have internet connectivity and are both awake, but realistically it's clunky compared to...

It works on average, there will be exceptions. I'm less sure that forcing discharge is as valuable given charging losses and battery degradation increase the carbon cost.

If the rise in insurance is because of repair costs why isn’t third party cheap too?

Yup, my Mrs was hit by another driver, her insurance put her in an Enterprise rental, but as soon as the claim was clearly the other parties folk they tricked her to come back into the Enterprise office and sign a new loan agreement for the appointed claims company that was 50% more. They then...

If the rise in insurance is because of repair costs why isn’t third party cheap too?

I think when you renewed is the biggest factor, I'm due in about 6 weeks so last years price was about 25% up on the previous year, when I renew this year it'll be +50% I expect. The reason is clear, they've allowed claims management companies to exist that massively inflate the cost of third...

From my personal testing the priority is based on the exact orientation of your car to lay lines, dowsing rods are essential to ensure early updates.

Agreed, looked like an illuminated sign perhaps going in at the car park entrance. They had closed 4 of Tesla bays which was a bit unfriendly. I use Sarn fairly regularly and it doesn't really need more capacity. I'll be going back in a couple of weeks so will have a look round again.

In nearly 5 years of driving a Tesla, once at Woodall was the only time I had to wait for a charger. This was back when there were only 2 that had CCS cables, and they made the mistake of making those 2 the nearest to the path to the services so they were both occupied by free SC Model X's

Did Tesla design cars to be able to take a range extender just incase?

I agree there we now have too many EVs in London to keep offering things like free parking, congestion charge etc. I do think that the Vehicle Tax incentives should remain being based on emissions and a different threshold should apply to EVs to be classed a luxury.
  45. GRiLLA

Did Tesla design cars to be able to take a range extender just incase?

It only 'appears' in misinformation and smears from the losing candidates. See https://www.london.gov.uk/who-we-are/what-london-assembly-does/questions-mayor/find-an-answer/pay-mile-road-user-charging

Did Tesla design cars to be able to take a range extender just incase?

I'm sure people will hold onto their ICE cars, that's not a bad thing. I think my point is if we cant do it in 2030 then we equally cant do it in 2035 or 2040. It just needs to be done, only impending doom will really get things moving at all.
  47. GRiLLA

Did Tesla design cars to be able to take a range extender just incase?

The challenge around chargers won't happen overnight on Jan 1 2030, there's at least another 3 years before its potentially a massive issue so 9 years from now, its resolvable, plenty of time.
  48. GRiLLA

Did Tesla design cars to be able to take a range extender just incase?

Reinstating the 2030 timeline is part of Labours published policy https://labour.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/WR-797_23-Automotive-strategy-v8.pdf Now I know that the current government doesn't have any track record of delivering election promises, but previous governments have done...

Did Tesla design cars to be able to take a range extender just incase?

It's a time to hold on EVs as far as I'm concerned, at the moment there is a lull as the desperate party will say anything it feels is right wing populism ahead of the election. Assuming bacon sandwiches are carefully avoided we will be back to a 2030 phase out and there will be far more...

I've not found USS valuable at all, they hit their minimum ranges at something like 18" and then just say stop. I'll happily trade that for something that can 'see' the kerb.
