FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Nope - we had a 300 baud modem plugged in to the phone line. (Well, first we had to wire an RJ11 jack after AT&T got broken up)

Model Y With HW3 - steering wheel is definitely not visible. When I checked with me sitting in the driver seat, you could get an idea that my hands were on the wheel if I were holding the top. If I were holding the bottom half it was indistinguishable between holding the wheel and having my...

    AOL at 300 baud, baby!

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Sorry - misread your initial post. Yes, I think this is probably one issue that everyone agrees on. V12 completely messed up speed control.
  5. sleepydoc

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Manual mode still doesn’t work. It lets you set a max speed but never actually gets up to it.

True, but why are you so focused on Robo taxis? I don’t think any of us here want to use our car as a Robo taxi we’d all be happy with solid level three performance.

All the time. I’d never make it up to the speed limit otherwise.

    Uneven Tire wear

Just as follow up, I had it in to my mechanic who said the suspension was quite a bit off.

Tesla has a ‘light’ in the form of an icon on the screen as well as driving visualizations.

To be honest, with 12.3 I have far less need for TACC. Ironically, 12.3 seems to do everything better except manage speed. With past versions I would routinely use it when I didn't feel like dealing with FSD. I also use TACC/cruise control routinely for city driving as I've found it to be the...

To which I say, "if you're not going to pay attention, don't drive a effin' car!" Every time I turn on FSD I listen for the double chime and glance down at the screen to verify that it's engaged. Every time I turn on TACC I listen for the chime, check the set speed on the screen and hold my...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Not much there except people complaining. The main theory seems to be ‘safety’ because people got the modes confused. Quite honestly, this is bull$hit. I’ve been using TACC and FSD for the last 2 ½ years and never had an issue. It’s only a problem if you don’t bother to pay attention, and one...

Just saw you’re in Boston. IIRC they have some messed up law there that mandates police at all road construction sites or something like that. Virtually never have that here. Either way I think they need to worry about L3 before worrying about L4 or 5 and I’d put it pretty low on the list for L3

Hand gestures by road crews - Virtually never have this. Not sure why it should be a priority school zones - discussed here before. There is no consistency, even within a single town or school district, and humans are frequently unsure how fast they can drive. School busses - absolutely...

Maybe I can just cut and past pages 624-673 to recap the previous discussion on the issue? 🤪 No - I think we should try to figure out what 'drive' means again.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

The location of the B pillar cameras has been discussed and debated ad nauseam in this and several other threads. IMO the current position isn’t that much different from the drivers view and should be adequate except currently there’s too much processing lag. The problem with placing cameras...

Agree. In Tesla’s defense, they’ve been figuring all of this out as they go along, and they’ve had to tweak and alter things like driver monitoring several times as they’ve learned just how stupid people can be. If and when they get this figured out, I think they should offer a driver...

I haven’t had FSD reliable respond to me looking ahead. IME the gaze tracking has been used in the negative sense but not the positive (I.e. it would yell at you and give a nag for looking away but wouldn’t reward you by cancelling a nag for watching the road.)

Well, after a colonoscopy they’re actually either CO2 or air insufflated from the scope. In all seriousness, I’ve seen *many* cases of people getting their colon removed (or worse) for something that could have been diagnosed and treated easily with a routine colonoscopy. The prep isn’t fun...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

ASD - actually smart driver? 😉 What you describe is another disadvantage of the yoke implementation. It’s actually not the yoke, though, since you can have a yoke with stalks. It’s from another boneheaded decision to eliminate the stalks. It’s been discussed with other threads, but at best you...

“By definition what I say is the truth so I can never be wrong” Spokrr we n like a narcissist. Facts matter and words have meaning. You attempt to change both then deny your actions. It is pointless to have any discussion with someone for whom facts are fluid and change to fit their purpose.
  39. sleepydoc

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

For once I agree with Alan. The yoke is one of Tesla’s stupidest ideas ever. I’ve seen videos describing how to drive with it. Seriously! If you need a video instructing people how to use a fundamental driving control then you’ve failed! The only justification for the yoke is Tesla’s own design...

I just got off the freeway driving home in rush hour. Apparently there were no normal people on the road because whenever someone slammed on their brakes all the freaks behind them did, too. 🤷‍♂️

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

so would it annoy you too much if I told you I got FSD in Nov or December of 2021 by just driving my car a bit more conservatively than normal and having a 9x% safety score? I had the video button for a while. Can't remember when it went away...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I consider the timing of when to merge over to take an exit to be a micro planning decision, as the decision of when to merge depends on traffic conditions. Macro planning is more the general route. Turn lanes like I described above can also be done in advance since the turn lane you need to...
  49. sleepydoc

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I always assumed the macro planning was done by the navigation system. That’s what it’s designed to do and at that level it shouldn’t change for FSD. I can’t think of any reason you’d want to duplicate that work within FSD when you already have the functionality available.
