    Is this not deceptive?

Also, I disagree that this is deceptive. Some people with expensive gas, cheap electricity, and a long commute save even more than that. They need to communicate with their marketing that the fuel cost savings play a potentially significant role in the total cost of ownership, and they're doing...

    Is this not deceptive?

Seems like a pattern of catchy headlines with inflammatory content: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/is-it-over-youtube-video-says-evs-are-done.327380/ Unsubscribe. Edit: sorry, my response was harsh. But Tesla has enough *real* problems to deal with that I don't think we need to...

    Is this not deceptive?

Most companies are deceptive, so no surprises here.

Is there a setting for speed camera and red light camera alerts?

Seems like it would need a destination, otherwise how would it know what path to warn you about? How does Waze and others handle this?

Charging at home at 16 amps instead of 32

I've been using scheduled departure for a couple of years, never missed the target once. Climate too.

Charging at home at 16 amps instead of 32

Interesting. Then it's not the PCS.

PCS failure? Multimeter will tell you what the receptacle is putting out.

Time to disable bluetooth as a key?

A relay attack is probably not that difficult... a pair of flipper zeroes for $170 each is probably enough to carry this out. If someone is determined enough to do this, they'll probably just follow you for a bit and watch you type your PIN to drive as well (with, for example, binoculars). I'd...

Time to disable bluetooth as a key?

Who would then open the door? A relay attack just makes the car think the driver is close by. It can't originate, for example, the "pop driver door" command. It seems like this type of theft would require a person at the vehicle. Which means either two people, or the device near the owner is...

Time to disable bluetooth as a key?

Probably would take two people... one near you with a device and one near the car with a device and to open the door.
  12. F

Time to disable bluetooth as a key?

Just use PIN to drive and call it a day. Has there been a recent uptick in relay attacks on Teslas? That'd be news to me. As it turns out, you can sledgehammer your way right into just about anyone's home. Not gonna build a castle for fear of sledgehammer attacks.

    reliability

The in-cabin camera has been watching our eyes for a while, and will nag / disengage if you're not watching the road. The "talk" was about Tesla doing away with the wheel torque nag and relying on eyes only. Not sure if that's just a rumor though. Seems like they'd want both your eyes on the...

    License Plate Screws Replacement

Countless license plates screws are rusty, and that rust "drips" down with the water that hits the screws, then spreads to the trunk lid. Definitely a sad situation to see two little screws cause so much rust on a car, but I see it happen everywhere around here. I prefer plastic screws for the...

Buying a Model 3 prioritise age or mileage?

Ahh... I don't do much streaming video, so perhaps that's where the sluggishness will be encountered.
  17. F

Buying a Model 3 prioritise age or mileage?

I have an Intel... no issues with it. It's not sluggish in any way. Perhaps subsequent updates will introduce enough bloat that it will eventually feel slow. Heated wheels were added somewhere around February/March of 2021.

is this repairable or will it be totaled

Doesn't look too bad. Few sticks of dynamite will take care of that though... if totalled is what you're going for.

Just a guess that since white doesn't get as hot as black, physics likely dictates that blue and gray get less hot than black too, just less less than white.

Using AI to improve wipe malfunction

I think what's being discussed here is that the auto wipers have *not* improved... or at least not enough to be effective. The auto wipers on my Model 3 are mediocre at best. I recently took a long road trip and faced some rain during it... I generally had to manage the wipers manually, and...

Using AI to improve wipe malfunction

That's a great idea. They should consider making FSD drive like a *real* human with many years of experience.

Are you *SURE* about that? I'm just not so sure. (Wipers, USS / Stalk removal, firing SuperCharger team, CT).

FSD - update required to end free trial?

I got an email as well as a message in the app that my FSD free trial has ended... but I'm still able to use it. I *do* have a software update waiting for installation. Must I install it for the free trial to end?

Using AI to improve wipe malfunction

@Alphacar - your post sounds like "I think Tesla should do a better job at auto wipers". Everyone here agrees. It's not going to happen though. They should've included a hardware rain sensor, but instead they chose to use cameras. The cameras and AI are inadequate for the job. What they should...

Time to change a basic Supercharging design?

Wow, that's nuts. What a shame. This is why we can't have nice things. There are always people willing to drag humanity down for self gain.
  28. F

Time to change a basic Supercharging design?

They should redesign the cables so that they activate when being cut.

    Ordering Connectivity after trial?

No. Truly, 99% of the valuable features are included with standard connectivity. All remote controls are there, minus remote camera viewing.

Did Tesla really lay off their entire Supercharger staff

That would be awful. Those 7 automakers would love to bury EVs and keep making their profitable ICE vehicles. You sell them the Supercharger network and they'll find a way to burn it down.
  31. F

Did Tesla really lay off their entire Supercharger staff

Actually, there was a $35k M3 for a time, before pandemic inflation. It might have been "off menu" for a while too, with the lowest price on the website at $38k... but there definitely was a $35k RWD M3 before 2020.

Did Tesla really lay off their entire Supercharger staff

@stopcrazypp - I guess I was just thinking that... nothing is stopping other US manufacturers from backing out of their NACS conversion and sticking with CCS. The strength of Supercharger network was the reason they decided to switch to NACS, and it sure seems like Elon just sent an...
  33. F

Did Tesla really lay off their entire Supercharger staff

Although I wholeheartedly believe that NACS is the better connector, I also believe that the other manufacturers only switched to NACS because Tesla's Supercharger network is much larger and better maintained than any other. Elon canning the entire supercharger team and then announcing that...

Did Tesla really lay off their entire Supercharger staff

My concern is how this might affect NACS adoption. Other manufacturers agreed to use NACS in the US because of its dominance... but it hasn't even happened yet. Might they pull back and decide to switch back to CCS? That would *really* suck.

Is it really super dangerous to go over the 120pound weight limit of the stock tow hitch? I’m about 30-50 pounds over.

Just thinking out loud... there are several mentions that "going over bumps or unlevel ground will exacerbate the force"... but wouldn't Tesla's 120lb limit have to account for those forces? Perhaps what's being said is... "30lbs over is significantly more than it seems because it is...

Did Tesla really lay off their entire Supercharger staff

Latest update: "Elon fires all Tesla employees, will operate business as one-man-show. Board agrees with decision." I don't own TSLA, just a Model 3. For years, I thought of Elon as a visionary that was doing good things. It's been years since I've seen him do anything that makes sense to me...
  37. F

    Auto Wipers

I think that Elon thinks that all of these problems will eventually be sorted out in software, but I'm not convinced. I actually don't care about auto wipers much... I just wish the manual wiper controls were better. As you mentioned, they're also subpar.
  38. F

    Auto Wipers

I give them credit for trying new things... otherwise we wouldn't know what's possible... but at some point, they should concede and add rain sensors. I mean, what's the cost of a rain sensor? $3?
  39. F

    Ordering Connectivity after trial?

Sure. It's only $1,000 if you own the car for a decade. I don't operate that way though - if I don't value something I won't buy it. Doesn't matter how much money I have or how inexpensive the purchase. You can use existing streaming services through you phone and Bluetooth, and the steering...
  40. F

    Ordering Connectivity after trial?

Many of the features mentioned still work without premium connectivity. I don't have a need for it personally. Can't see wasting $10/month on it. My recommendation - let your free trial expire and don't renew unless you find something useful is missing.

Poll - Who really need a model 2?

Model 2 could be 2-door, hatchback, even smaller, 15" cheapest wheels, RWD only, just a rear backup camera, 11" screen, very basic audio, only available in 3 colors.
  42. F

Poll - Who really need a model 2?

Market cap is meaningless... it's emotional. Investors hoping to get rich. It's the opposite. Tesla had a planned Model 2 (our name, not theirs) but cancelled it because of profits. If it's back on, it's because it fills a need in the market and Tesla overall is starting to lose its...

Poll - Who really need a model 2?

  44. F

Poll - Who really need a model 2?

Why does it imply that I'd buy one if I think it can be done? That's definitely going to skew the poll. The Tesla Semi has the same load capacity as other trucks like it... 80k lbs including the truck itself. The truck/trailer weight are the same as others too. Disagree. How many American TV...

NEW OWNER - ISSUE WITH SOFTWARE VERSION

But you have home charging? It certainly wouldn't be ideal, but even without Supercharger access it's still a great vehicle. I do occasionally road trip, but 99.9% of my driving is energized by my own home charger.
  46. F

NEW OWNER - ISSUE WITH SOFTWARE VERSION

I wholeheartedly disagree with this. The hardware is no different than any other 2019 Model 3. Updates don't happen the instant they're released... it's a phased rollout across the entire fleet. It can take weeks from the time the car has an internet connection to the time it gets an available...
