    FSD free trial

I haven't gotten the 2024.14.6 update yet, but the wait may be worthwhile. On 5/9, Mr. Musk announced that FSD V12.4 will likely rollout next week. This is a significant update with a focus on refining passenger comfort by addressing past concerns such as abrupt acceleration and braking.

    FSD free trial

Tesla update 2024.14.x is now rolling out to customers around the world, although it could be several weeks before most customers have access. I think the latest version is 2024.14.5. I remain optimistic those of us on 2024.8.x will get the FSD free trial sometime after we're updated to the...

    FSD free trial

I think those of us on 2024.8x will start to see some FSD free trial progress soon. Tesla just started rolling out the 2024.14.3 spring update to customer vehicles. I'm optimistic we'll get the 2024,14.x release fairly soon, with the latest version of the FSD trial following shortly thereafter...

    FSD free trial

My 2022 MS is on 2024.8.9, and still no FSD trial. I'm beginning to think those of us on 2024.8x are going to have to wait until the 2024.14 update is broadly released to Tesla owners, as suggested in Tesla's Next FSD v12 Update Will Be Available For Users on 2024.8 on the Not a Tesla App...

    Holiday Update(s) - Continuous Update

I had a similar experience. It may have been a coincidence, but A reboot resolved it for me.

Refreshed Model S - rear seat rattle

You might also want to be sure your rear seat head rest isn't loose. Today I wiggled it to be sure it was secure and found it a bit loose. I raised it up and forcefully lowered it. The looseness went away. It's an easy adjustment that's worth a try.

    Tesla insurance safety score

It seems Tesla has listened to some of our concerns. I looked at my Safety Score yesterday and it has bumped up to 99 from 96 or 97 the day before. While I don't have specifics, it appears some of the "dings" I had received for supposed errant driving have been removed from my daily record...

    Tesla insurance safety score

Apparently you don't have to use the break peddle very much to get "dinged" for hard breaking. Hopefully well see some noticeable improvement in Safety Score reporting as Tesla Insurance expands into more states and the safety score becomes more impactful on one's insurance premiums...

    Tesla insurance safety score

I have had my Safety Score for the day’s drive plummet on several occasions for odd reasons. Most issues involve forward collision warnings under the following scenarios. 1. When approaching a vehicle that is parked at the side of a neighborhood street that gently curves to the left. This...

I planned to immediately replace the yolk/yoke, but now having mild second thoughts.

Your wish may be coming true. Electrek just reported that Tesla filed a patent for a new steer-by-wire system. It will be interesting to see if it impacts the round vs. yoke dialog.

2021 refresh Model S sightings, steering yoke vs. steering wheel discussion

Electrek has reported Tesla's filing of a patent for a new steer-by-wire system. Steer-by-wire with variable ratio steering should substantially reduce the amount of steering wheel/yoke rotation required to execute a turn. U-turns, parallel parking, and other steering-intensive maneuvers should...

Loud is the New Slow – Looking Ahead

Maybe we'll eventually see those noisy ICE cars being a little more conservative when sitting at a light beside an EV.

Loud is the New Slow – Looking Ahead

Good one! :) I've experienced a few noisy neighborhood vehicles in the past. Fortunately, quieter times are ahead.

Loud is the New Slow – Looking Ahead

It's always fun to watch the amazing power and torque of electric cars.

Loud is the New Slow – Looking Ahead

So true. We all love clean air.

Loud is the New Slow – Looking Ahead

The quiet part will undoubtedly be appreciated by those living near busy roads.

Loud is the New Slow – Looking Ahead

Interesting novelty. We are still in the early stages of EV adoption and it will be hard for some to move on from the nostalgia of ICE sounds.
  18. JeffR

Loud is the New Slow – Looking Ahead

You make some good points. The "screaming for attention" comment has crossed my mind. It will be interesting to see how this plays out over time.
  19. JeffR

Loud is the New Slow – Looking Ahead

Agree. I sometimes think about their desire for attention, but subtly think their noise seems a bit dated considering today's technology.
  20. JeffR

Loud is the New Slow – Looking Ahead

There's a perspective that loud is the new slow; a reference to how production EVs can be so much faster than loud souped-up ICE cars. To that point, I think most would agree it's pretty striking to see four-door sedans like the Tesla Model S Plaid (around $140k US) and Lucid Air Sapphire...

Refreshed Model S - rear seat rattle

I had the same bolster issue with my 22 MS. The rattle was annoying and a little research revealed the bolster was loose. I firmly pressed it in toward the body frame and that resolved the problem. Unfortunately, it has recurred a few months later. Wedging some cloth behind the rear bottom...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

I've got close to 500 miles on my MS. The first few days using the yoke seemed a bit awkward, but I've since become a fan. Because of where I hold the yoke, I find the button turn signals more convenient than stalks. As a result, I use them more frequently. With the new blind spot camera feature...

I didn't notice a difference in the ARNR, but I've not had anyone in the back seats yet. It will be interesting to see if back seat passengers impact ARNA performance..

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Here’s a quick update on my experience with my Model S (about 300 miles on it now). I previously posted about the Active Road Noise Reduction (ARNR) feature calibrating and then showing active. Today, I noticed it was calibrating again so I kept it displayed on the screen for a while. As seen...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

On 12/10, I used a cashier's check at the time of delivery. This was at the Carlsbad, CA delivery center. Maybe Texas has a different process due to their dealership regulations.

I don't know how our setups may differ, but the following may help. First, be sure you have the latest software, If so, reboot your system. Also, some features require your foot on the brake and the vehicle being in park. I hope one of these works for you.

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Here's more in the continuing saga of my experience following delivery of my 2022 Model S. While my impressions are not at all scientific, the first iteration of Active Road Noise Reduction (ARNR) seems very good. It finished calibrating on a rainy day and the difference was noticeable. For me...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

I picked up my MS on 12/10. Here's a couple of thoughts about my early experience. 1) I get a lot of people checking me out at lights and on the roadways. It's kind of like having a shirt on inside-out, but it's not me they are looking at. 2) Little things like yoke turn signals automatically...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

That is possible. One thing I did that may have been a contributing factor is rebooting my system. At the time I rebooted, it wasn't related to the sound system and I wasn't listening to any music, hence I can't say there was a direct correlation. You might give a reboot a try (pressing both...

My sound system has so much base, I had to ease up on the subwoofer and base settings. When I first messed with the settings, the base seemed wimpy, but after fooling with a couple of settings and adjusting the subwoofer level, it went from wimpy to wonderful. I can't remember the details, but...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

We took delivery today and the experience was great. While mostly "touchless," the team at the Carlsbad, CA Service Center regularly checked to see if we needed any help or had any questions. The process was quick and the car was clean, despite our recent rain. There were a few minor panel gap...
