2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Exactly. Like putting lipstick on a pig as they say

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

Same battery chemistry as every P model before it.

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

A quality PPF install is just a lot of money, even if you only do the front bumper and hood. Minimum $1,500 at a reputable place for just that. Probably $5-6k for the whole car. Tesla sells touch up paint kits for like $60 also. Everyone places value on different things but like I said, I don’t...

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

Yeah I’m not saying bad things happen to everyone who puts PPF on a M3. It’s great you haven’t had any issues. But I can’t in good faith recommend it to anyone, especially for the cash outlay needed. YMMV
  5. Jeremy3292

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

You can get ceramic over PPF, but if there are any issues it’s all gotta come off and be redone. Just ceramic alone will help keep your car super clean. PPF by itself is not much different from a cleaning perspective than just a regular untouched car.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Well, there’s different mounting points for starters.
  7. Jeremy3292

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

This is the way. Dont waste your money on PPF; it’s not worth it IMO. Especially if you get rock dings and it pierces the PPF, which isn’t that uncommon with M3 bc it’s so aerodynamic. I’ve seen countless PPF issues from *great* PPF installers on M3. Dirt gets under where the rock pierces and it...

    Model 3 highland build quality

I test drove a new M3 Highland for an hour (twice) and looked it over thoroughly and didn’t see any issues. Living with my 2021 build for awhile now I knew what to look for. It’s really solid - at least the one I was able to look at. The bottom door latches are a real nice touch and it has a...

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

The #1 reason I am upgrading is the suspension. The old M3 suspension is so bad. Awful as a daily driver. Just terrible. Not even worthy upgrading aftermarket bc you just can’t fix it IMO. You feel every bump in the road vibrate through the seats. I honestly don’t know how you can even engineer...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I think you’re missing the point. Kyle is advising buyers to never without a doubt do not buy the LR. A poster on here commented asking why. My point was he is an enthusiast, which is not 99% of buyers, so take what he says with a grain of salt in regards to “don’t buy the LR.” All of that...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Yeah there is nothing wrong with the LG Chem battery in the LR, not sure why he said there was. I think he forgets 99% of the population is not like him and is not drag racing or doing anything other than driving the car to work or the family on vacation.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

So very likely a set of 235/40/19 wheels in a square setup (and no aero caps) is still more efficient than the stock 20” staggered setup (with wide rear tires) even with those aero caps.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

    Very helpful, thank you

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I personally think he oversold how “terrible” the long range is. The long range price is indeed too high, but it’s not a terrible car or something not worth buying. He also just assumes everyone qualifies for the tax credit and that the tax credit will be around forever. Plus he talked a lot...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

That doesn’t really answer the question though? That’s just a comparison to another vehicle.
  16. Jeremy3292

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

So what does that mean in reality? The car only weighs 4k lbs. Not really that heavy at all
  17. Jeremy3292

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Not sure why 235 would be an undersized (problem) tire
  18. Jeremy3292

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The wheels are fine. Them being 20” is not fine. The 19” ones in China are great
  19. Jeremy3292

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I don’t think people realize how fast the 2021/2022 LR with AB are as they have the same Panasonic 82 kWh battery and motors. It’s just still slightly software locked vs the P for safety (diff brakes) and obvious economic reasons (lower price).
  20. Jeremy3292

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The US parts catalog has them, so it’d be dumb to put them in when you can just put them in the China one.
  21. Jeremy3292

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Yeah the first one is restricted. I just tried for the second one which says over the counter.
  22. Jeremy3292

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The parts catalog has been updated with all the performance parts, like wheels. I tried to place an order for the 19” rims in the app through a service request, but they canceled my appt and said they are not available yet. I pushed back and they said they don’t have an ETA yet on...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

That M3 RWD is helluva car for $38,990 IMO coupled with the LFP battery. A fantastic daily driver or commuter for a lot of people. We likely won’t see any LFP production in the USA any time soon though (for tax credit). I agree the LR should have the same Panasonic battery, it does in my 2021...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

As a side note, I have a theory as to why Tesla raised the price to $54,990 other than the typical match production to demand scenario. A lot of people still haven’t gotten the LR M3 they ordered awhile ago as Tesla kind of botched that ramp up anecdotally. So once the M3P came out and people...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Probs a little of both. Exact same battery but different rear motor and staggered wheels. Also highland has different aerodynamics

I think you glazed over how my comment originated in this thread and the context behind it. We weren’t talking about any boosted muscle cars or tracking them. A large majority of people in this thread will never track their M3P. This was about people gaslighting their buddies and worrying about...

Tesla 19” sport wheels on Model 3 Performance with PUP?

Ok simple misunderstanding on my part. I was thinking we were concerned with it sitting flush with the part of the rotor in green near the bolts, but it seems that the extra lip lets it sit flush over the part of the rotor in blue. Thanks for the help, makes perfect sense now.

Tesla 19” sport wheels on Model 3 Performance with PUP?

Ahh ok thanks. I thought the issue the whole time was the smaller rims won’t clear the brake calipers on the P. Maybe that was just for the 18” stock Tesla wheels.
  31. Jeremy3292

Tesla 19” sport wheels on Model 3 Performance with PUP?

And that helps it clear the larger brakes somehow? In my brain I’m thinking the outer lip would still be flush with the rotors
  32. Jeremy3292

Tesla 19” sport wheels on Model 3 Performance with PUP?

What is the “step”? I couldn’t figure it out from the prior photos lol. Thanks for the help
  33. Jeremy3292

Tesla 19” sport wheels on Model 3 Performance with PUP?

Can anyone confirm if my aftermarket 19” Sport V2 replacement wheel will fit the M3P brakes? It’s a spare wheel for me.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The irony of my comment was that you don’t need to worry about any Dodge Charger ever in any model year M3P. But they’re the ones that always seem to want to race 😂
  35. Jeremy3292

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Well I’m in the USA, so there’s no copium for me bc I get the “faster and better” one? Copium for everyone on here freaking out about hundredths of a second when they do nothing with the vehicle except try to gaslight their buddies about it and punch it on an interstate against a Dodge Charger 😂

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

IMO they should stick with the physical buttons and have some raised dots or something so you can feel it without having to look. I know there is a little line between them but they could do a little more if we are being picky. I like physical buttons also
  37. Jeremy3292

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I’m just gunna bite the bullet and buy a set of 19” with all seasons and immediately swap them out. I’ll sell the OEM ones on here or Facebook or something. A bit of a hassle for sure no doubt
  38. Jeremy3292

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I’m probably in the minority here, but I’ll take an LG pack with those 19” wheels with the better aero caps over the Panasonic with the 20” goofball wheels I also don’t believe most of the people commenting on here are looking for anything more than “bragging rights” when talking out loud to...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Lol no. The cost of ultra red + white interior is $56,990 currently. So your logic doesn’t make any sense.

Agreed. Elon tweeted a few weeks ago “Tesla prices must change frequently in order to match production with demand.” So demand must be much higher than production rn, and then demand tails off as the fall/winter comes but production remains constant.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Ooof. $54,990 Must be crazy demand rn. Hoping for some price drops at the end of the year to get ultra red back under $55k!

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Maybe a dumb question, but does changing the wheels to a non staggered setup affect anything on the car? Alignment?
