    Is this not deceptive?

Look at the Rivian page. No deception when pricing out their EVs. It doesn't have to be this way.

Tesla Norway says Vision Park Assist after court loss

I love my USS. In my experience has been very accurate for most objects (down to the inch) at the level of the sensor. I do not rely on it for curbs. Tesla Vision still appears to be unreliable after all these years.

Would you Purchase a model Y Again?

Pay $20-30k more for the same level of service/quality plus have more parts to break down? This is why I am hesitant to upgrade to a S/X. Or maybe the S/X issues are exaggerated (shuddering, axle/camber, falcon door issues, etc.)?

Would you Purchase a model Y Again?

Buy again so I can roll the dice on initial quality and potentially lose features (USS, stalks, gear shifter, etc.)? Looking forward to the Rivian R2.

Terrible service experience, why my 2023 Model S is a regrettable purchase

I'm not sure it's much of an upgrade when I am losing USS, turn-stalks, and gear-stalks. Tesla doesn't make this easy.

Terrible service experience, why my 2023 Model S is a regrettable purchase

This is why I am hesitant to upgrade to a MS/MX. When you are paying for a 80k+ car, you would think there would be a different level of quality and service. Is Rivian or Lucid better? I don't know what to get anymore after my current 2021 MY (which has zero issues so far).

    Strange Phone Key behaviour

This happens to me every now and then after a software update. Here are the steps: 1. Close Tesla App 2. Restart Phone 3. Open Tesla App It has to be in that order or it will not work. Good luck.

Smelly stinky socks / mold in Model 3 AC

The trick to keeping smells at bay is to flush out the A/C with fan only after each drive. After 3 years of ownership, my cabin air filters still look brand new.

Elon Musk Discussion - Tesla Brand Damage

No guarantee, but most people use Superchargers only on long distance trips which may be a few times a year. I believe Rivian has chargers and other 3rd parties are starting to step up as well.

Reevaluating my opinion of my M3

The new M3 may have a better suspension, but you lose out on USS, turn-stalks, gear shifter, etc. It's impossible just to get a better car with Tesla.

Elon Musk Discussion - Tesla Brand Damage

Tesla has been pushing me away since my purchase in 2021. Just one bad decision after the next. I think Rivian and RJ will be the new Tesla. At least they are laser focused on the brand and create vehicles that people are asking for (e.g., R2, R3, R3X).

USS support disabled at end of FSD demo [false alarm - setting in menus to turn on]

I have a 21 MY and never lost USS during the FSD demo. After the demo, it is still functioning as before. USS is accurate down to the inch. Not sure I can say the same with Tesla Vision.

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

I think the issue is that the car looks and feels almost the same. Do people normally buy the refreshed version of the same car you have? I have always upgraded to a better model or jumped to a totally different style.
  15. bobbyjae

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

I'm waiting for the Rivian R2 unless something else comes up. I have a 21 MY and feel like I would be losing a lot to switch to Juniper (USS, turn stalks, gear shift, etc.) with minimal gain.

    2024; Tesla's Tipping Point?

Maybe Tesla can stop removing things that people want in their cars - radar, USS, turn-stalks, gear shifter, etc.
  19. bobbyjae

Tesla service & maintenance: the biggest difference with legacy car makers?

You must be in an area where there aren't a lot of Teslas. In the US and in the Wash, DC area, it's a nightmare to try to get something fixed at a service center. There are very long waits and the potential for the service folks to mess up your car (scratches, dirt, missing pieces, etc.) at...

6 reasons why Tesla is failing, and they all have to do with design

The design changes are pushing me away to other companies as well. Tesla is prioritizing cost savings over performance (no radar, no USS, no stalks, drive shifter, etc.) even though their profit margin per car is very high. For my next car, I will be looking closely at Rivian.

This Latest Attempt to Force FSD Upon Everyone is Hurting the FSD Cause More Than Helping

Or maybe Tesla is not confident in their system? MB has cameras, lidar, USS, long-range radar, etc. while my Tesla warns me that my cameras are fogged up.

This Latest Attempt to Force FSD Upon Everyone is Hurting the FSD Cause More Than Helping

I believe FSD came out in 2016 and it's still stuck at Level 2 self driving. Even Mercedes is now at Level 3 (limited up to 40mph, on freeways only). How many years will it take for folks to realize Tesla will never get there, especially with Tesla-Vision?

    Model Y Competition: Rivian R2 Price & Specs Leaked! -- $47500, 0-60 3 Sec, 330 Miles Range

From what I've read, it sounds like they are anticipating curbside charging for the future.
  29. bobbyjae

21 to 24 lr. Worth it?

I still see a number of posts on this forum and others with quality issues at delivery (scratches, gaps, paint, rattles, etc.). It's enough for me to weigh other options at this point.
  30. bobbyjae

21 to 24 lr. Worth it?

I have a 2021 MY as well but the future models seem to be getting progressively worse (No USS, stalks, gear shift, front looks worse, etc.). Buying a new Tesla is like rolling a dice with the kind of quality issues you will have. I seriously don't know what to get next... maybe the Rivian R2...

    Model Y Competition: Rivian R2 Price & Specs Leaked! -- $47500, 0-60 3 Sec, 330 Miles Range

Maybe the R2 (not the Macan EV) will be the MY killer! ;)
  32. bobbyjae

Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive Performance

Maybe a MYP that swapped to 19" tires? That would keep the 0-60 but increase the range.
  33. bobbyjae

Is the new Macan EV a MY killer?

That's the thing. There hasn't been a lot of competition to the MY. It was the only solid option when I bought in 2021. Hoping that the Porsche Macan EV and other similar new models put the heat on Tesla.
  34. bobbyjae

Is the new Macan EV a MY killer?

That list should be broken down into 2 lists - compact SUV and full size SUV. There's a Cayenne EV coming down the pipeline. Also, maybe less than 100k and more than 100k? How many are compact SUVs under 100k? Fisker and Lucid may not last long as a company.
  35. bobbyjae

Is the new Macan EV a MY killer?

I think a lot of people bought the MY because it was the best EV at the time. I'd like to stick with the MY; however, Tesla is making it more difficult as they are adding silly new features while not focusing on the basics. The MX seems even worse with the falcon doors and axel/shuddering problems.
  36. bobbyjae

Is the new Macan EV a MY killer?

If Tesla could continue to improve cars instead of going in the wrong direction (no radar, no USS, yokes, no physical gear shift, no turn stalks, bumpy suspension, terrible service, etc.), then folks would stay loyal. Tesla is forcing people to look at other brands. I still love Tesla's tech...
  37. bobbyjae

Is the new Macan EV a MY killer?

Other than the price (20-30k), the new Macan EV seems to be better in almost every way. Any MY owners consider switching?
  38. bobbyjae

Is the MY the best Tesla vehicle?

Just want a Tesla that has all the pros of the MY without losing anything in a slightly bigger, more refined suspension package :)
  39. bobbyjae

Is the MY the best Tesla vehicle?

I have a 2021 MY. It's a great car and has most of what I want in a vehicle. Only downside is the unrefined suspension (good on flat roads, not so much on bumpy). At some point I would like to upgrade and have been looking at the S and X. However, after reading about them, it appears they have...

Just saw one in Los Gatos, CA tonight. Cool, but still terrible build quality

I think they may have changed the exterior design since the original release event. Musk touted that the Cybertruck had a rigid, exoskeleton as the frame.
  41. bobbyjae

    Why is black $2k

I think white is the worst color because: a) it was free so there's a lot of white MYs out there and b) the color often does not match the bumper.
  42. bobbyjae

Just saw one in Los Gatos, CA tonight. Cool, but still terrible build quality

Very interested to see how it does in crash tests. Doesn't appear to have crumple zones so does all of the impact hit the passengers?
  43. bobbyjae

Tesla just called me to say they will have Highland in next week.

No, of course not but Tesla has rolled out a feature and pulled back in the past. It's possible they may do the same with the stalks.
  44. bobbyjae

Tesla just called me to say they will have Highland in next week.

Tesla may pull back after the initial rollout. Remember the Model S/X had yokes only for a short period then they relented.

Cybertruck walk around, and size comparison to MY

This looks much smaller than when it was presented originally. Did they reduce the size?

Anyone Switch From MY to MX?

How did you get a 2023 MX with USS? That’s another feature that I don’t want to lose.
  47. bobbyjae

Anyone Switch From MY to MX?

There are ways to reduce the booming such as tweaking the bumper stumps, plastic hose around the perimeter, etc. Now it's just a thud. Some folks may be more sensitive to it than others.
