FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Tesla might need to open an office in Chuck's neighborhood given the time and effort they are putting into it. If these TSLA team visits were software release validations we'd be on v13 by now. :)
  2. K

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

He claims FSD was already taking the turn too fast.
  3. K

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Here's a video compilation of 12.3.3 and 12.3.6 issues. The first instance involved an emergency vehicle.
  4. K

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

This might be one of those FSD non-accidents. It's a shame as the driver had time to disengage 12.3.6 prior.

    ALL CyberTruck discussion

It looks great now but will likely be even higher maintenance.
  6. K

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

The only thing better would be talking about why it takes so long to release an update. Maybe it's a never ending need to add simulated training data? What FSD features will Tesla need to punt on and replace with simulated training data? I'll bet they've been working on Chuck's unprotected...

Robotaxi : The business of competing with human drivers

Sounds like the question wasn't the focus of the webinar. For sure Waymo needs to simplify the design and reduce over all costs. They have been arguably slow and steady with their roll out. There might be a few obvious paths like licensing the technology, cherry picking regions and more...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Come on now. We know the trend hasn't been friendly for young FSD grasshopper. There isn't gonna be a quantum jump with v12.4.
  9. K

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

That was close. Glad we all came together as it felt like someone was gonna pull a truck driver from his cab. :)
  10. K

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Yep. It looked like the status quo. Max set speed appeared to still be gorked. Indecisive at intersection entry and left turn lane selections. And video sections with heavier traffic were edited out. We really should be calling it v11. :)
  11. K

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

We should all be wearing shades by now.
  12. K

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

They may not be testing sw for that drive as it looks like the driver might be rowing the steering wheel again.
  13. K

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

And rightly so. There hasn't been much to be giddy about. But that's all about to change now that FSD is no longer training limited and the team learned how easy this all was. :p

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

I bet this is something less than a Columbo worthy gotcha.
  15. K

If only people weren't distracted and FSD didn't have ridiculous latency... what a wonderful world it would be. 🎶

  17. K

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

So v12.4 begets v12.4.1 and maybe thereafter v12.4.2 is released to the unwashed masses in 2 weeks?

    Waymo

It's a grainy wide angle video to be drawing many conclusions from but the Jeep looks okay to me given UI update delays and vehicle movements. Waymo likely still has enough info to know a moving object is behind the jeep. That's the purpose of redundancy. All systems aren't required to reliably...

    Waymo

In the article's header video, the most impressive item to me was how quick Waymo processed and evaded the head-on pickup crossing into path. V12 FSD might have initially responded after the pickup either struck or passed the ego.

  22. K

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

It feels like the v12.4 'over the weekend' release was by the skin of their teeth. Hopefully it lives up to expectations as everything TSLA is heavily dependent on FSD success these days. We've been waiting for v12 e2e magic to materialize for a while now. Aside from the usual sycophants, if...

    AP/FSD related crashes

On X he posted he wasn't the driver. It is odd there were two instances.
  24. K

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

He mentions the car had "dozens of tiny cameras." Otherwise he's not wrong when he says self driving is the future as that's been Tesla's story for a number of years now.

Who referenced LIDAR in the FSD class action?

No, about everyone in the the entire industry says that minus Tesla. Pretty interesting for Tesla counsel to admit it.
  26. K

Who referenced LIDAR in the FSD class action?

Yep, it's not a thoughtful admission from what was suppose to be a crack legal team.
  27. K

Robotaxi : The business of competing with human drivers

Wrong. It happens all the time. The Chinese legal system enables it. The Chinese government encourages it. Win at all costs. Local companies steal from each other as well as from abroad. The Chinese military steals other country's technology. Heck they even owe Russia for fighter jets. It's a...

    Cybertruck is a scam.

TSLA also needs to add more standard creature comforts. It's been a short cut they've gotten away with for too long. They've pocketed the profits from that for too long. Odd they even tried it with the $100k CT.

    Cybertruck is a scam.

    Oops.
  30. K

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

She claims this is a v12.4 test drive. It doesn't appear much different than v12.3.6. Still slow approach and indecisive at stop signs. At ~3:00 the driver steps on the accel pedal from a stop sign and again later at a traffic light. Auto max speed still looks problematic. Turn signals still...
  31. K

FSD 12.3 activates turn signal too early...

Yep. For me it's an early turn signal, early stiff brake, and then dawdling decel into the left turn lane while making sure the aft rear end slowly clears the adjacent right lane. It's nothing if not dysfunctional. Gotta hope v12.4 doesn't add any more of these short cut, one-size-fits-all...

Robotaxi : The business of competing with human drivers

Tech tariffs should be a damper on progress. Related to that is their culture of appropriating IP which can be a road to nowhere. Tesla sued an Xpeng engineer for autopilot secrets. Xpeng even admitted their design is heavily based on Tesla's efforts.
  34. K

Robotaxi : The business of competing with human drivers

Yes. Apparently they have a fleet of around 500 RTs today.

I would hope Uber and Lyft would closely monitor driver insurance policies before allowing them to operate.
  36. K

Robotaxi : The business of competing with human drivers

Speaking of which. There was recent talk of a Tesla and Baidu working together on RTs. Probably a low production high cost version, but I was surprised to see Baidu already has a working RT. CNBC's Eunice Yoon took one for a ride.

It's nice to hear they are using MPI as a quality indicator. My MPI is pretty low so any improvement is welcome. :)

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I'll give that a 8/10 on the snarky scale. Teslafi shows a big step in 2024.14.6 (v12.3.6) downloads the last two days.

Universal Basic Income (UBI) is coming

Yep. Even tghe typical paltry SS income is taxed. Medicare was suppose to be free but even Part B has a substantial monthly premium. Spending other's money is a wet dream. We'll need to keep cranking up interest rates to encourage enough entities to buy US debt thereby making our interest...

    Can FSD hallucinate?

There are a few forms of FSD hallucinations. One might be when relying on inaccurate map data and attempting to drive over newly constructed medians, curbs, roadway hardware. Or stopping on bridges when there might be intersections below. Chuck had a case related to 2 traffic lights although it...

    Can FSD hallucinate?

I was recently on the freeway with a 75mph speed limit. V12.3.6 enabled, in the #1 lane, traveling maybe less than 1mph faster than a vehicle in the adjacent middle lane. Wide open lanes otherwise and FSD needs to change lanes right now with the vehicle in my blind spot. Very awkward and...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I just returned from a ~300 mile trip. V12.3.6 continues to struggle when environmental stimuli increases. Indecisiveness for yellow light intersections - abrupt brief decel and then quickly accelerate through the yellow. Crazy lane change attempts. Misinterprets roadway. Accelerates into...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

It appears they are trying to model ideal driver behavior for new training data. I could see arms moving on the steering wheel and different driving behavior. On the plus they are more closely approaching the stop sign and more quickly creeping for better view. On the down side they all...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Finally retraining for comfort, braking, and throttle is music to my ears and frankly the family's vestibular system. And why not have a supervisory control/profile for it? Common sense says one size is tough to fit all.
