How does it work when Leased car is totaled?

Yes, most leases now are written where you should have no liability due after insurance payouts. Verify with your lease agreement. Only the insurance companies can make a final determination if the vehicle is to be totaled. Whether you work thru the at-fault driver’s insurance or your own...

Lesson for Tesla Owners - Tire Service from Tesla or not

That’s what I’d do. The area where the nail is in is sorta 50/50, depending on the shop.

    Is premium paint more durable?

get touch up paint if it’s something you look out for. That big flat nose attracts a lot of rock chips, bugs and debris. Don’t let tree sap, dead bugs or bird poo sit more than a day or two. Etches into the paint real fast…

Thinking about a used 2022 Model Y, a few questions

Not all ‘22s are built the same; you’ll want to verify the options you must have are actually on the vehicle. Tesla pushes hardware/software updates on their schedule, not by model year. And Tesla won’t release prior service records where/when you’re not the owner. Haven’t seen low regen in a...

    Tire losing air

99% of the time it’s road hazard (e.g. Nail, potholes, screws, sharp objects, damaged rim, damaged stem valve, etc). Not covered by Tesla nor tire warranties. If there’s a defect with the tire, then the tire shop should be able to work with you to file a claim with the tire manufacturer. This...

    Model S warranty outside US

Warranties are region/location specific, and non-transferable; they are not global. It looks like you have a grey market/third party imported MS? At least Tesla will work on it and you have some support… the worst case is that Tesla refuses to even touch it (i.e. salvage vehicle).

MY20 Model 3 US built how to install 2024.14.3

    Long term parking

Yeah, as others said, turn everything off. I’ve parked for 7-10 days at a time and lose no more than 1-2%. I check the app every 2-3 days for the heck of it and turn on sentry just to checkout the cameras… everything looks good? Turn off sentry and continue drinking…

    Refused delivery on MYP

Just curious - what was so controversial about refusing delivery? Oh, and loaners are not guaranteed for service appointments. Depends on your SC, the type of work being done and availability. They used to provide Uber credits and even that’s iffy now.

List of differences between the model s base on year?

This won’t answer your question but hope this helps - Tesla does not follow vehicle model development by year; instead improvements and upgrades are pushed out as and when necessary. That goes not just for major features, but also for vehicle parts/software. Think CI/CD, but for the entire car...

No dash cam footage recorded when accident occurs!

From the M3 owners manual - To protect your privacy, video recordings are saved locally to a formatted USB flash drive's onboard memory. Recordings are not sent to Tesla. Model 3 does not record videos when Dashcam is Off.

Towing vehicle flashing up on rear sensor....

Why don’t you put it into “Tow/Trailer Mode”? It’s designed to do exactly that. From Tesla: Trailer Mode must always be active when towing a trailer. While in Trailer Mode, the following features operate differently: Traffic-Aware Cruise Control increases the following distance from the...

NEW OWNER - ISSUE WITH SOFTWARE VERSION

The fact that you haven’t had an update in so long is a problem… and it’s actually not a small thing. Whenever Tesla makes updates, it (theoretically) improves functions of the onboard software, diagnostics, BMS, improves efficiency of devices, etc. So even if they are able to force an update...

NEW OWNER - ISSUE WITH SOFTWARE VERSION

4 year old car with only 1500 miles on it? It’s been in storage this whole time? And it hasn’t been updated since 2019? Is it already out of warranty? Very, very unusual. I’d also be wondering how the battery’s health is doing. In any case, there’s nothing you can do manually to force an...

GTA Canadian advice - labor rate / seeking repair shop

What kind of maintenance are you looking to get done? Tires, alignment? There’s very minimal “regular” maintenance that is needed. If it’s a new car, you have your new car warranty anyway. Beyond just a trusted shop, you want a shop that has experience working with Teslas. Something as simple...

    Rear damage

Welcome to the club, and if the damage was any more serious, I’d say the car is totaled. No, it’s not. Just a running joke on TMC. If you spend more time here, you’ll realize why 😂 Total SWAG, but if you take it to a body shop, they’ll probably want $2-3k to putty the area, smooth it, blend...

    Looks like I can’t have the PG&E plan E1, that’s a problem

Frankly, I’d stop overthinking it. Unless you have zero production or have an idea of what to expect (re: generation), there is nothing you can do about it. You are now in a “dead zone” where you have no official contact with Tesla, until PTO (no installation support or Advisor, no post-PTO...

    Charging at non-Tesla charging stations

Don’t do that - it’s part of a locking mechanism so the CCS1 charger is not forcibly/involuntarily removed from the adapter. Try another CCS1 charging station, like one with EA. Third party stations are notorious for being down and unable to charge. Or ask someone else to try your adapter...

What can I do after picking.

A lot of the issues you noted are cosmetic, unless they affect the form, function and safety of the vehicle. It is unfortunate you are experiencing this for such a large ticket item, but this will apply to all purchases - buyer beware, and do your own due diligence. During the you should also...

    Looks like I can’t have the PG&E plan E1, that’s a problem

You may want to ask Tesla what was submitted then. I remember talking it over with my non-Tesla installer and PGE confirmed it via this screenshot. In any case, I believe you have the opportunity to change your rate plan twice a year.
  41. K

    Looks like I can’t have the PG&E plan E1, that’s a problem

IIRC, one of the TOU rate plan’s is selected in the PTO application when it is submitted. OP - you should have a copy of the PTO application to refer to. And yes, all grid-tied PV systems must have PTO from the local utility provider (saw this question from OP in another thread).

    New to EV, just bought 3 Tesla's, a model S, a model X and a model Y. Charging, Upgrade's and Accessories Questions

I believe older S will need their drive units checked out? Big ticket item that will need preventive maintenance, unless it’s already done. Tesla parts can only be ordered from the Service Center, and only if they are not “restricted”. With the older rear facing seats, I wonder if they even...

new Tesla Model Y has a rear wheel alignment issue

Tesla takes care of delivery issues that are reported within 3 days/100 miles. Sometimes they’ll stretch it a bit further. And Y’s are known to have alignment issues from the factory. After 3 weeks and xxx miles, you could have made a case to have it goodwilled before they completed the...

Ok I’ll bite… so many questions: - is this a M3 SR or LR? - any other error messages on screen? - did airbags go off? - is car drivable? (Probably not with tow truck there, but have to ask) - which panels damaged? (Hard to tell on white, reflections) - any other damage? Tires? Leaking fluids...

Brand new model x battery replacement

No, it’s your car now. Tesla will have to fix it under the new car warranty terms. But battery replacements are something that Tesla has down do the T. If it is in stock, it just takes a few days for it to be done. If it takes several weeks, then you could explore a way out via the lemon law...

Model Y trunk slams sometimes but not always??

My silly way of rationalizing it is like this - when all doors/windows are closed, you can’t slam the hatch down as you’d be creating an overpressure situation and Tesla being Tesla, a window, glass or other area under pressure will pop (whatever that means). Thus the “soft” close. You read...

Model Y trunk slams sometimes but not always??

It’s because you have a door open, then it “slams” close. When all your doors are closed, it’s a “soft” close. I figured it’s something to do with air pressure or some other vague reason.
