Elon Musk Discussion - Tesla Brand Damage

It’s easy. She keeps her 2018 model 3 and when it’s beyond repairable she shops for something she likes (and that probably includes stalks). I was trying to nudge her to a new car as we’re past warranty and there are good deals to be found.

Elon Musk Discussion - Tesla Brand Damage

Sure. And find out there are firmware issues over the years like the aftermarket 12v lipo batteries? That won’t go over well my wife at all. There is a saying about happy wife…

Installing the TMC PWA (Progressive Web App) on your mobile device

Strange, I haven’t had any problems. Clearly you have.

Elon Musk Discussion - Tesla Brand Damage

Maybe with variable ratio. That doesn’t apply to the model 3 that my wife refuses to buy because of the lack of stalks.

Voted no on my paltry 30 (way underwater) shares.

Elon Musk Discussion - Tesla Brand Damage

Isn’t bmw limited to use locations? If so, that could make it safer. I find FSD pretty good and use it all the time, but it sure as heck dies some crazy very unsafe things too!

    Demo car has scratches

Front bumper and wheels are replacements with factory painted parts. Door is body shop. Just because they did one doesn’t mean they will do the other. It’s discounted for a reason. Don’t count on it being fixed unless it agreed in writing at pickup.

Living with the 16v LV battery

Apparently there are improperly designed ones - https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/12-volt-power-outlet-in-my-tesla-model-s-plaid-has-burned-out-3-1000-escort-redline-360c-detectors.279261/

@shred86 the job is so much easier if the trunk opens.

Maximum battery charge level reduced - warranty about to expire

update to add, you could try something like scan my Tesla or find a 3rd party that might give you all the cell levels to check balance.

Maximum battery charge level reduced - warranty about to expire

All they are going to tell you is no errors. Won’t give any insight into if it will fail in 30 days. unless your experiencing problems, I feel like it’s a waste.

    Supercharger team sacked?

And if it goes that way, EVs simply don’t make sense. Especially in the view of the random public. So tank the company one way or another. (Yes, extremely view and not total reality, but for effect…)
  17. B

    Rear trunk won't open

Yea. I purchased the replacement motor elsewhere (eBay) and it turned out to be more ($88 or something).
  18. B

    Spare tire necessary?

Only blowout I’ve ever had that couldn’t be solved with a compressor was a bmw with the inside tread so worn out it went through the cords. Total user error. Everything else has been a slow leak.

    Supercharger - Three Rivers, Tx

Might be a different brand. Like buccees in temple.

    Charging two Teslas

The universal wall connector specifically allows sharing a branch circuit in the manual. The WC2 did also. The WC3 does not show it this way. Ultimately it will be up to your inspector on how it can be connected.

    Charging two Teslas

We have 3 EVs (2017 S, 2018 3, 2016 Leaf - leaf purchased in 2019). We do just fine with a single Wall connector. Each car drives ~50 miles per day and we plug a different one in each night. I seriously considered getting another wall connector and doing the power sharing on our WC2 but as...

Reading that thread, doesn’t look like anyone has them yet and generally getting the runaround.

Mine is still “winking” - but it’s getting there.

    Supercharger team sacked?

I don’t think that carries through all cases because most CEOs are not “in your face”.
  26. B

Nah, hand out the big CEO bonus and move along. /s

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Starting from the top, from the looks of it.

    Sentry mode power requirement

battery powered security cameras have motion sensors. Most commercial security cameras are running all the time.

    Rear trunk won't open

Putting the back plastic part back on was one of the biggest pains ever (for me anyway).

Does a battery ever have a positive ROI with net metering

I believe Texas covered the folks that got screwed with dynamic pricing. Power companies won. Customers won (because they were saving oodles up until then). Taxpayers…. Well.

New Owner—A/C Only Works While Moving. Is This Normal?

Look up service mode (Google). You hold the logo in one of the screens and type “service” as the password. See if you have any errors listed.

New Owner—A/C Only Works While Moving. Is This Normal?

    Definitely not normal.

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

If it's that bad, people should not be driving. Even those people that put on their hazard flashers and lean over the steering wheel and squint like it helps.
  34. B

glass roofs have to go bye bye.

I have my doubts that this would help and of course it needs power for the blower.
  35. B

    long term parking

This is why I never use sentry mode. It’s a lot of power and I haven’t needed it (luckily). Depending on electric rates, that’s over $1 per day. 2 teslas 5 & 6 years old. That’s a chunk of change.
  36. B

    Wall connector amp setting

No, I don't think it comes out of the box at 40a. When it is set to a 50a breaker, it allows 40a maximum. This is called the 80% rule because of the continuous nature of charging.
  37. B

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

They don't need cars on any free subscription to collect whatever data they want (assuming someone checked the I approve button at some point).
  38. B

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

Uber drivers don't understand how much they are depreciating their car, that's why uber model works. (IMHO of course)

    FSD now $99 a month

Not for free, that’s for sure. If a car with real self driving an no steering wheel could be purchased, I would assume you might need to only purchase comprehensive insurance. If someone else is taking the liability I’d sssume they get paid for it. I pay a pile for insurance now every month...

Does a battery ever have a positive ROI with net metering

If I'm home, I would assume I could load shed and it would be useful for an extended outage (keep the fridge and freezer going). At least better than neighbors that had nothing. But ultimately a generator with a local fuel source would clearly be the most reliable.

How to order through Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC)?

You can submit a service ticket with the parts list and pick them up at a service center. But not for all parts.

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

@Thp3 the new FSDS won’t get up to the set speed in regular “driver controls the limit” mode either. At least for me on my roads.

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

No different from a manually driven car and we don’t frequently see those type of accidents.
  45. B

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

True. Maybe add some future low cost lidar for up close accurate maneuvering.
  46. B

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

I'd think throw more horsepower and the computing and continue vision. Or use their fleet and do hyper accurate mapping. I do think they may need more cameras for more stereo vision.
  47. B

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

To me that sounds like the $40k cybertruck. And yes, none of the robots have really hatched and we don't know what they are capable of doing in a productive (earn $$) sort of way.
