Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

Drove to work this morning with the new software and the full screen view - wow - it was seeing pedestrians in the dark this morning that I hadn't even noticed yet, I thought it was a glitch to start with! Windscreen wipers seemed to have zero auto functionality and it rained the entire way but...

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

Just passed 8,500km today. Still loving it. Got my UMC updated by Tesla, has made a pretty big difference to my overnight recharges, more than I expected, almost make it back to 80% overnight - an achievement given my 300-ish daily commute and terribly low hours at home sleeping! Had a...

Yep that is a bonus. Though it's grown about 10cm more since then, will get it booked in tomorrow. Car has a service appointment on Wednesday to remedy some things but I'm assuming NRMA (no claim windscreen) will want me to go through O'Briens. Had a really crap experience with them last time so...

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

Sadly passed 7,000km yesterday just as a car flicked up a rock and broke the windscreen, really bad too. About 50c size instant star and within 5 min had spread 30cm across the windscreen. Really not looking forward to the repair, or the fact ive got to have it done so soon into ownership.

Mine has a bit of an unnerving lateral movement in the drivers seat when cornering hard and accelerating, Mrs reports passenger side is fine - was worried it might be my weight but I have seen mention of a few people taking them into service for that - I’ve added it to my service list along with...

Finished the weekend long ceramic coating today - feeling like I’ve achieved something but certainly don’t begrudge the money people charge to do this stuff! Did discover I have a bit of bad factory paint under the boot handle lip - anyone else got that? Right in the joint, doesn’t bother me...

Has anyone else had trouble with voice recognition? I know I'm not the clearest speaker, and my carplay integration in the last car had spectacular funny interpretations sometimes, but this one is more like 100% wrong in every word, phrase and sentence. I tried to open the glovebox the other...

Do you know if that is taken for the 2 bluetooth device allocation or can the rear screen have its own two? Always found it a bit limited that you can only pair two, if the kids want to watch something in the back then I lose my phone?

Don't tell Tesla but I don't have stickers on the sunvisor... I wonder if I can remove the entire thing before next service so they can't put one on :)

I thought I remembered you had luck. Tried here with a couple of Xbox controllers (that I've had pairing with MacBooks and iPads for remote play - so they must be the Bluetooth models) but no joy... searched but didn't find anything. Will do some reading must be some trick otherwise I'm going...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

I had a surprise today on the back of some annoying other news, I got to pick my car up a day early. It ended up being super stressful and rushed but the Tesla team were fantastic and couldn't have asked for more from them. The car is so quiet and calm, and then turns into a monster and then...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Regional NSW, no claims history, almost 40, two named drivers. Windscreen cover, $1,000 excess, agreed value of $79k. Don't need hire car have enough spares. I did get quoted $4k from AAMI, GIO and Youi. Allianz for me was roughly the same as NRMA maybe $100 more per year and I've been with...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Just did the same that's good to know about the reimburse monthly, I hate messiness in account but they mentioned to me otherwise I'd have to wait until next year to get reimbursed for this year. I found NRMA with glass cover for $1,500 a year cheaper than NL insurance which didn't cover...

One of my colleague asked me to find them a good place to get their Tesla tinted in Sydney and I found heaps of positive feedback for TintHaus and they did an awesome job for him. Handy they have some pricing on their website for PPF and ceramic coating to give you an indication also. Seemed...

Feels like my car was unloaded weeks ago and my delivery isn’t until the 17th Feb… but gives work longer to get their NL plans sorted out at least otherwise I’d be needing to buy it myself. Trying to stay excited… feels like I’ve been 1m from the finish line since I started getting messages...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

A former suburb I lived in the front door had to be 1m behind the garage door when facing from the street. All sheds had to be green and a particular green. There were a butload of idiotic restrictions. My fav though was when they spent 50k on a timber reception fit out for their own office and...

Anyone have any experience with Smart Salary? I had everything lined up with FP but work seems to have dropped the ball so I'm starting from scratch today and deciding if I try Smart Salary or just buy the damn thing and forgo the tax incentives.

Anyone had any experience with the Tesla option for the tyre goo and inflator? I was just thinking of getting that as I’m pretty useless with stuff like manually plugging / fixing a tyre on the side of the road.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

I got pretty close, country NSW (on the ACT direction) about $100 more. I saw someone said they got a good quote from AAMI this morning, bloody hell, mine came back $4,700 - double checked I had entered all the details correct. NRMA for the win. NL company use Allianz and it’s about the same...

I saw a video a few weeks back with a guy that was using the overhead buttons for each shift - probably super painful but he seemed to be handling it well. The enhance knob though would be very LandRover/Jag like.

Thank you - have to say this community here I’ve been lurking in for a few weeks - the atmosphere is fantastic! It reminds me of the BMW community from the early 2000’s - everyone just happy to share and keep it light, share some laughs and love our cars and talk about cool accessories etc...

Insurance is getting out of hand

I’ve been getting quotes for M3LR agreed at around 75k - ranging from $1700-$3000 pa. Windscreen cover, $1100 excess and no hire car (I’ve got enough other cars and I hate loan cars). Pretty wild the variance, but I’m finding that with my other cars too, even renewals sometimes off the charts...

I believe NSW should be safe, I asked in horror if it would be yellow and black plates and they reassured me it would be the generic slim white and black for the hundred-ish charge.
