My 2022 M3 RWD (with LFP battery) with 71k miles shows 253 range at 100% charge. Also keep in mind that with the last two software updates, the range was changed and most vehicles are showing fewer miles. So 272 on a new vehicle probably wouldn't be accurate with the software update.

Any EV that you buy this year, you file the taxes for it next year. That is, in April 2025 you file your taxes for this year 2024. So if you and your spouse buy two EVs today and qualify for the credit, it would be counted when you do your taxes next year. But you get the credit now.

If husband and wife file their taxes separately they can each get the EV credit, but the income limit for each person is $75k. If husband and wife file taxes together, they can only get one EV credit and the income limit is $150k.

I did not claim the first one because it was more than $25k. The second one was $23k so I was able to claim the $4k EV credit. But yes, it is one EV credit in 3 years.

Also I found out the Model 3 RWD I just got from Hertz has a Lithium low voltage battery. It's not a 12v lead acid like in my M3LR. It's actually a lithium 16V. This is great! I don't have to replace the low voltage battery ever! Lead acid batteries typically last 2 or 3 years here in the desert.

Yep, that's exactly how the ownership process works with a Hertz Tesla because you can't change the car name. After the car is in your Tesla account, you will need to factory reset it because it's still running on the Hertz fleet software.

I forgot to mention that the white one is the $57990 (top picture from DMV) and the blue one is $50990 (bottom picture). The MSRP makes a difference on what the yearly registration fee is paid to the DMV. It's not a huge difference, but it is around $125 per year due to the $7000 MSRP difference.
