About to schedule delivery but getting cold feet...

Not too familiar with those. I am under the impression they don't give up much summer sports performance to have a compound that doesn't freeze solid in winter. Jack of all seasons with not a whole lot of noisy treads? Ever used the Winter type that burn up tread like nobody's business if you...

About to schedule delivery but getting cold feet...

Do you have switchback turns on your skifield climbs? Snow tyres or "All Season MuD and SnoW rated" or plain All Season?

    Level Home Charger - 10kw 229v

I am assuming the utility co delivers solid power to the panel. If there isn't enough to go around that's a different issue.

Wall Connector/Model Y charging starts at wrong time

Quoting myself. Sucess!!! I have not enabled the charger app. Pretty sure the charger was already plugged in. Car was at the desired SOC I had previously set it, 50%, so no charging happening. In the car's Charging Menu: I set the car a scheduled departure time. I reset the desired charge to...

Wall Connector/Model Y charging starts at wrong time

I just set mine for the first time. Departure time and charge percentage. The phone app for the car says it will start at midnight and charge at 16A. By rough maths It figures to chuck in 25kWh over 6 hours and preheat the car so it looks to have got the 16A a little light. It's almost...
  6. Q

    Level Home Charger - 10kw 229v

The phone app reports the voltage applied to the car constantly. What arrives at the wall outlet depends how much of which quality cable is between it and the panel. The longer the run the thicker the cable required to avoid the sag. The more marginal the lead in cable for its length, the...

Tesla Battery Preconditioning: When, How, and Why You Should Do It

The P models have track mode which involves the battery temp being controlled. Not sure why that wouldn't also be an automatic response on a regular MY to say climbing a mountain pass with a full load in mid summer. Perhaps it is.

Roof rack & 4x8 plywood sheets

If you pack the space under the bars the aerodynamic effects of wind on the ply will be to push down instead of take it away with the bars.

    Method MR502 on MYP?

Any auto parts store has orings. Even hardware stores have orings. You need to know the sizing.
  10. Q

    MYLR snow performance

If you are sliding on ice the only thing you can do is let off the brakes to regain steering control and then reapply gingerly. At least you will be pointed in the right direction. If you really really need to, not as crazy as it sounds, you can apply a little throttle to help with steerage...
  11. Q

MYP needs steering rack with only 74,000 miles

Btw. A steering rack can be reconditioned at relatively little cost. My mechanics operate a "replace with exchange unit" on Toyotas (at twice the milage). Cost nothing like your 7k quote. Given how quickly Tesla ones die I expect someone in your town is doing that for Teslas. Might cost a bit...
  12. Q

MYP needs steering rack with only 74,000 miles

Check the warranty. It's somewhere in the infinite onboard menus. Hit warranty in the search box and it should pop up. Afaik the warranties fully transfers to next owner(s). Not sure if steering rack is covered at your miles but could well be.

About to schedule delivery but getting cold feet...

Between what Tesla told me , what I observed in some YouTubes, and then using it the other day for the first time I am believing and desperately hoping you are dead wrong about that. Reading the manual, it does not gell at all with real life. ORA engages 50/50 torque with both motors...
  14. Q

Roof Rack - Is it Really a Risk?

I own a torque wrench, for working on motorcycles so it's not a big one. The specified torque is right on the bottom of its range. That's not going to be very accurate either. The little end of the tool is plenty of handle to get the rack torqued down to where it won't move about when you swing...

New: TPMS Re-Learn Feature in Service Mode for Incorrect Positions

That's better than having you swap them around on the screen. Wouldn't hurt to have the option if the reset fails though.
  16. Q

Roof Rack - Is it Really a Risk?

Nah. You're right it's not a coincidence but you could jump up and down on the rail and it wouldn't flex enough to notice. That thing is rigid.
  17. Q

Roof Rack - Is it Really a Risk?

When I was fitting mine I used the little end of the hex tool as the handle. It creaked and groaned all the way to "hell's bells that better be enough". Swung on the rack and it was solid. No cracked glass and a healthy gap under the cushion to the glass. I backed it back to the nearest locking...
  18. Q

Roof Rack - Is it Really a Risk?

The roofrack alone added around 20% to my consumption at highway speeds. I had to start hypermiling after a fashion after it tried to get me to turn around and go back where I started. That was not even 50 miles into the trip! I had done the exact same trip in a hustle with no rack and finished...

Off Road Assist MYLR Review and Questions.

1st up Big Props. It works as advertised making the most of available traction. Yesterday I had a job to take a regular up the 2nd worst country driveway in the district. My old Kia would take chunks out of his weird round gravel steep as hell damp pine needled goat track. You would be...

Roof Rack - Is it Really a Risk?

Here's an interesting tidbit of info. I put my ski carrier on as it's coming to season. Did a couple of shifts and yesterday I thought 'what the hey' and put the rear trunk separator panel in the ski rack ( to make a bigger trunk ). What I found was the watts per mile at sub highway speeds...

MY 2024/2025 Refresh - Project Juniper?

A joker bowled up to my window to talk T yesterday. He is a shareholder but yet to take the plunge into ownership. He wanted to know about how I was getting on with charging here in the wops. He claimed to be well informed on things T and really only wants to come in when he can drive 350 miles...

    TPMS on non factory wheels

How? Basic inattention has tagged me twice, cellphones I think. Lately with my airport run I noticed way far fewer tailgaters. People getting right up in my rear view and then backing way off. I sussed that the regen braking gives them the willies and they back off all by themselves. So now I...
  23. Q

    TPMS on non factory wheels

Interesting. My goto tyre guy is all about the sidewall being tough enough to keep the tyre in shape as you throw 2.5T of battery, 6" off the ground, around bends. With the low C.O.G the tyres feel the loads far more than you notice while snug in your sports seat with relatively low body roll.
  24. Q

240V Outlet Install with a poorly placed main panel

Sounds like you have a almost ready made solution in hijacking the dryer power supply. If aesthetics aren't a problem it could be way cheaper to duct through to the garage and along the garage wall interior without disturbing much drywall at all?

Last of the Model Y pre-Highland?

I think at one stage bigE was claiming it to be world's best selling vehicle of its size.
  26. Q

    Tesla Model Y Radar Detector

I can confirm the 16V accessory circuit has power cut off a few minutes after the car is parked. I haven't timed it, and it may only do it after noticing the phantom draw with nobody in the vehicle.
  27. Q

Last of the Model Y pre-Highland?

The 3/4" circles in the guards, give you the beeps when you are getting close to things. Mine beeps when I am half a metre away from swiping something. Like I don't know it is there. Handy for drawing up on something in front below the bonnet line though.

Last of the Model Y pre-Highland?

Mine came from China 2024 with stalks and sensors. Hopefully I won't ever need to buy another one.
  30. Q

    Tesla Model Y Radar Detector

What does it matter? I would prefer my accessories to stay on but I am pretty sure they are on the "passenger" footwell red circuit which is the driver side here. Will have to check next time I charge. If you are hooking anything up like that please use a fuse! You don't want a 3rd party gear...

    question on Scheduled Departure charging

And you keep Tesla outside? We max out -7°C frosts as a rule but garage stays quite warm thanks to gas boilers operating in there. I am picking for around 8°C inside.
  32. Q

    question on Scheduled Departure charging

That could be a good trick for me. What's the ambient temperature progress when parked overnight while you get your sleep?

How to remove brown stain on white seat?

It may be helpful to the pro to know what the offending brown stuff was before your chemical assault. 1st rule of stain treatment is know your enemy. Treatment for one causes another to set hard. What happened to.the strides? You may be able to smell a hint of what it was?
  34. Q

Any scissor jack recommended for tesla ?

Hence the 2nd jack. Let's say the flat is in the rear. It takes weight off the front suspension lifting that side toward the wheels on the ground on the other side. Lo and behold the rear comes up that there is enough clearance for the rear jack. The Tesla body/battery is very stiff. It's like...

80% Charge is Only Showing 168 Mile Range? '22 MYP w/ 17K miles

I never said it was the 200w per se draining off 20%. That's ridiculous it's the lack od sleep potential I am looking at If it's nor sleeping it isn't doing the balancing stuff that keeps the cells equal. I suspect once this gets too far out of whack the wacky things could start happening ie...

80% Charge is Only Showing 168 Mile Range? '22 MYP w/ 17K miles

Sentry mode is well known to prevent sleeping. It would be a great upgrade if it could run off the 16v without using any big battery. Then the BMS could do the sleepy time tasks uninterrupted. Sleep with one eye open.
  37. Q

    question on Scheduled Departure charging

Can you get a breakdown of where the powerwall "usage" winds up?
  38. Q

80% Charge is Only Showing 168 Mile Range? '22 MYP w/ 17K miles

Why so sure? What tells the charger it's time to stop charging, if not the BMS? Something is messed up when the charging routinely stops at 60%. I wonder if the car gets any sleep? Two or three ways to stop it sleeping. Obvious one being Sentry mode. Apps running checkins at all hours. There...

Stock Negative Camber Intentional by Tesla?

Sidewall profiles change with rim diameter to more or less equal out overall tyre heights between 19 and 20 "square" fittings all 255. Not sure about the 21" with wider tyres but likely very very much less than 1" different to 20". Check tiresize.com for actual diameters.

    Lane Departure Avoidance Doesnt Work

Mine does, to a fault. Can't rely on it though. It will happily drive right over the centre line on a curve if it thinks your eyes are on the road.

Tbf, the website description is "Racing Green" which indeed ranges from "Forest Green, to Darker Green aka British Racing Green", and that's what you got. Perhaps you should have queried the tone displayed on the website. Still, the website shows their 'racing green' is lime, which is...

Long Term Battery Costs, Fears, and Serviceability

Check if I understand please. A/C pump is sending very hot extra high pressure refrigerant via heat exchanger with liquid motor coolant. A/C retains enough pressure to evaporate in the Cabin evaporator cooling the cabin air. The even hotter engine coolant goes through the radiator and heat...

2022 MYP Tires after 68k miles

Definitely broken then! Yup. Factory alignment is set to chew up tyres but make you safer fanging around corners. Regular MY is similar. I really, really want to see your alignment check printout! I need my brand new car sorted. It has a slight pull to the right which shows as a smidgeon of...

CCS adapter retrofit now available for Model 3 & Y?

You probably need to approach it from the Service Request: "Other", "type request here", direction.

Charging Port door closes immediately after opening

What is the significance of "Power Off" in safety menu? The other steps of removing USB and whatnot seem like avoiding distractions to a quick perfect sleep. 2 and 2, it goes looking for any updates as the last thing before sleeping?

Vendor Show Off Your Aftermarket Model Y Wheels

Being that the stock M3 wheels are a couple of sizes smaller than MY you should probably confer on the M3 side as to what fits.

    Newb: Winter Cold Weather Charging?

Do you have any basis for this? I would be concerned the car could cannibalize battery power to keep warm enough for changing to occur, faster than you could put it back in. Plugging in directly on arrival wouldn't be a bad idea but keep an eye on what it is achieving. It really would depend...
