Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

BC announced the MSRP ceiling for vehicles qualifying for 4000 dollar rebate dropped from 55000 to 50000. 4 hours later tesla lowered the price of the model 3 to 49990 Canadian dollars. It is now the only tesla eligible for the BC EV rebate.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Definitely not the case for us. At least when driving in Canada. When 12.3.6 came out the car was immediately capable of doing 3 and probably 5 more intersections that it got wrong before. Wrong lane, freezing up mid intersection etc. It was great and a huge improvement. But over a few weeks it...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

So is that what needs to happen? And if so, does that whole process that we went thru now need to be repeated? Not an American so all of this is foreign to me. Seems…weird.

Thanks Mike. We’ll check it out when we get a better connection. On the road with the trailer in Utah.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Hi all. Couldn’t watch the meeting. Two quick questions. 1. Any mention on the supercharger network expanding, North America in general but specifically Mexico. 2. Any mention on new markets like Chile? Thanks.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Agreed. Optimus is an unknown at this point and I do t think there is a clear path to a market yet. Energy storage is and will continue to be a winner. FSD is still years away. The needle continues to move forward but in small increments. I won’t say it’s a decade away anymore but at least 5...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I’m surprised we haven’t heard about any new markets being developed. Chile, Brazil, even proper supercharger infrastructure in Mexico. As other markets saturate or drop off I would have thought this would be on the table. Especially proper supercharger development on key Mexican routes. Jmho.

Assuming that a no vote for Elons pay package will tank the stock, what would the Norwegian pension funds motive be for voting no?

Nice. What year is your Y?

I think that’s the case on magic docks. Not sure about ford and Rivian owners using the adapter. Really don’t know.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Every 5000 miles. Not even close to that. In the city maybe 3 or 4 mikes at best, and that’s assuming no traffic lights with a flashing green signal (so most of them in Canada). Your robotaxi ride is over at the first one. Get out and order another taxi because it’s not going any further. When...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Agreed. Everybody acts like this is close to autonomy. It’s actually a pretty good level 2 ADAS and we use it whenever we can. But it’s not even remotely close to a level 4.
  15. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

We are maybe 3 minutes but we are in Canada and have lots of green flashing lights at intersections. It’s full stop at any of those…well…sort of more stop go stop go stop go stop go stop go……… it’s actually hilarious. 😆 I don’t think tesla knows we have these flashing green advanced left turn...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It does raise an interesting point though. I wonder what the production ramp hold up is. I doubt it’s demand. Some other supply chain hold up on a key widget maybe? Who knows.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I License it? Has tesla given any indication they will license it or will it just be like the superchargers and tesla just gives access away for nothing. Elon hates moats and FSD will be a huge moat just like the supercharger network was.
  18. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Well, they should then. It will be embarrassing if they are off by a factor of ten…and that is totally possible at this point. Tesla can be a solid profitable company even at 3 million a year. I think BMW is less than that (not sure). But enough of the crazy pie in the sky numbers. 2030 is a...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yah maybe. But it’s just how tesla rolls. I don’t have a problem with it. If they think it’s the wrong time to build a semi factory they are probably right. When they have the bugs worked out and they can sell it at a profit they’ll build it. But with the exception of the model Y they are...
  20. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I don’t think they have even broke ground on the semi factory yet. I would think this is pushed to the next decade at this point, along with the factory in Mexico. Jmho.
  21. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yah. I agree with some of that. I have no doubt tesla will be successful. But I also believe it is shifting away from cars. I would be surprised to see two new models the rest of this decade. And there doesn’t appear to be much interest in new markets. Re superchargers, I’m sure they will end...

Got up close and personal with a Cybertruck today. Way smaller in person. I like it. Wife loves it. We’ll keep our reservation but when the time comes we’ll probably still get a model X. Until then we’ll continue to drive the wheels off the Y.

I’m not sure I see the point on voting again on his pay package. The judge didn’t like it the first time and thought he was paid to much. Why would that change with another vote. It appears it’s ultimately her decision what he will be paid. Weird.
  24. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Agreed. I would guess in 2030 tesla will be producing similar or marginally more vehicles than it is now. I think storage will become the main business. And I doubt they will be in the supercharger business within 3 years.
  25. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Maybe. Because I have been following the planned sites on supercharger.info since the big lay off and the number of planned sites has been steadily dropping although they are probably dropping because more are under construction. Others are completed.
  26. W

Not noticing any new “in planning” sites on the supercharge.info site since the layoffs. Are new sites not being planned?

Hi folks. I would have thought with all the NEVI money tesla would be pushing for more supercharger sites. Is there a better site to see where new sites are being planned or has there actually been a complete stop to new sites. The planned number on supercharger.info just keeps dropping. Cheers.
  27. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think there are still lots of untapped markets for tesla. Kinda wondering what’s happening in Chile. I thought they were going to expand there but other than a showroom I don’t see any superchargers going in. Also noticed no new sites being announced on the supercharger info site, or at...

What batteries are current Austin model Y’s using?
  29. W

    Model Y Brake Controller

Here you go. And notice the input on the Victron us 8 - 17 volts. So cigarette lighter thingy in on left. Trailer plug out on the right. The only difference is you would cut into the wiring on the trailer, do a plug with ground so you can unhook it when you unhook the trailer. Or...
  30. W

    Model Y Brake Controller

There is no reason that wouldn’t work. We built a little 12 volt to 12 volt charging unit so it would put a decent charge on the trailer battery if we got in a dry camping situation where we ran the battery down. On the 12 volt teslas like our 2022 the voltage on the charge pin is only around 13...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

That is good news of course, but I wonder how many will be in the US and Canada as those were the target teams for dismissal. I haven’t seen any indication of new permits on the supercharger.info site since the dismissal event…or maybe I don’t know how to read it. Not an expert.
  32. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Thanks. Encouraging. At this rate I suspect they will be past combined production of Rivian, Lightning and Silverado soon. 👍

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I skimmed it looking for a Cybertruck daily production estimate but didn’t catch it. Did he talk about that?

Did Tesla really lay off their entire Supercharger staff

Yes I understood that. It’s just the rollout seems to be taking more time than it should.

Kinda nice actually. What happened to them?
  36. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Did they happen to mention what daily production is now for Cybertruck?
  37. W

Did Tesla really lay off their entire Supercharger staff

Ah ok. Thanks. I saw an article that indicated only 7 locations had been built in two years. I suspect at best they’ll double that in the next 8 months.
  38. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

For awhile there was a drone guy that would regularly fly over the Texas factory and get a feel for daily cyber truck production. I haven’t seen anything for awhile from him. Anyone seen anything on this front?
  39. W

Did Tesla really lay off their entire Supercharger staff

Not an American so not sure how this works. Polls indicate that the republicans will be elected this time around. Will the NEVI money just disappear when that happens? Thanks.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I’m kind of of that mind as well. I doubt Elon deliberately lies. He is overly optimistic and wrong…a lot. I used to be more of a fan. Not so much anymore. I struggle with balancing his past contributions to the company to the obvious damage he is doing to its image now. And is it really...

    Financing Tesla vehicles in Canada

Good morning. I’m curious on the source of the 36000. Actually more curious on a provincial number break out. Thanks.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yah probably. I think it might be more of a Canadian eccentricity. Still kinda funny. 😄 It’s all good. I’m sure they’ll figure it out.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Did a lot of around town driving today, and as per usual tried to use FSD supervised as much as possible. I can’t help but wonder if the flashing green advanced arrow — is either a much bigger problem to solve than we think — or because all the NN training is done in the US they are still not...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Let’s hope. But I don’t see Giga Mexico happening. Not unless there is a new smaller model. And that I think is at least for now off the table. Jmho.
  45. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think 8 million is pie in the sky. Maybe 3 or 4 million. And that’s only if they expand quickly into untapped markets like South America. The ticket will be finding markets where they don’t associate Tesla with Elon. That’s just the way it is now. At some point even tesla will have to...
