FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Watch AI drivers video from the start. Almost crashes into some cones and barriers

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

It looks more fluid but still have disengagments and near crashes on short trip. The most interesting is to see how *sugar* v11 really was, even if the hype was so big. I guess it is an influencer trick, push down the previous version to make the new excel. In reality, same but different. So...

Poll: When will FSD V12 be in wide release?

Another step sideways in the half decade FSD saga. So sad. Not surprised though.

Mercedes approved for ACTUAL self driving in the USA. And will accept responsibility.

My expectation from L3, based on the MB journalist demos and logic, is that the car in L3 mode will reach a safe state by stopping dead in its tracks if the driver does not answer to the take over request. In the example with the highway ending, no way MB would release a system where it...

Mercedes approved for ACTUAL self driving in the USA. And will accept responsibility.

I disagree, my interpretation is that L3 will be as capable and safe as L4 in the same ODD. But, the L3 car has a driver that can be handed control when the car nears the boundaries of the ODD. The L4 though must manage all by itself, all the time. If a L4 car sense an outside ODD state, it...

AI Addict - Tesla Driver Monitoring System

I guess it would it be harder to bypass/trick a steering wheel touch sensor than the last decade tech torque sensor. I am surprised that the camera seem to have so little capability.

    Autonomous Car Progress

And makes sense from a congestion point of view. Robotaxi takes a lot of space pr passenger compared to a city bus. In my city, we have an abundance of bus lines. Problem is 7 minutes waiting time i rush hours, 15 minutes for other times. In rush hours, buses (big linked one) are full, and...

There will be NO HW4 upgrade for HW3 owners

I bet it is a half-update, not yet complete. Like HW2 only lasted a short time before HW2.5 was delivered for a fair bit longer.

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

I guess Ark Investment and Musk would be happy with the more objective and descriptive "Safety critical software/mechanical flaw" instead. That probably wouldn't be negative for the brand and the stock. ;-)

Considering an ID.4 as second EV. Thoughts?

This is all valid and well known criticism. I will add that some of the critique are based on what you are used to. the UI for example has some really neat features and is pretty fast when you know it. But the first time I drove the car I couldn't even find the menus... IDs with 3.0, 3.1...

Hm, so if they had 99,0% recall and precision before this improvement, an improvement to 99,9% would be only 0,91% if my calculation is correct. Wth how poor is their precision and recall really? Why dont they tell their customers?

FSD fails to detect children in the road

Buy it would be safe to assume that the collision avoidance features for Euro-spec cars are similar worldwide and for FSD-beta? Or do we believe FSD beta is very different at collision avoidance?

FSD fails to detect children in the road

Excellent results in ADAS and crash tests from EuroNCAP on -22 Model S. These are real tests comparable to a lot of new cars. This might be one of the better ADAS results ever seen I think.

Can we chat about the new Volvo EX90 SUV?

Here in Norway this will be a big seller. I am happy they didn't make this an iX/Polestar 3/e-tron hatchback with big rear space but small boot. -More equipment (digital matrix, 360, massage, framed doors, lidar, HUD, B&W stereo ) and more luxury than Model X. -Much cheaper than iX and Model X...

Are we ignoring the most consequential BEV adoptions?

And a lot cleaner and less noisy local environment. There are a lot of BEV buses in my city, and as a bike commuter I love them. They are great. The noise from ICE buses and lorrys is substantial.

Charges a tad faster than a Model 3 P 82 kWh also (but in real life all 3 pretty similar). PS I with you in the US had fast charger network similar to us in Europe.

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

The Kia offered a "special edition". Equipment removed was: Parking collision avoidance assist (when backing out, 2x rear radars?) Highway Driving assist 2 (auto lane change, 2 rear radars?) Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

Here on Norway, Kia offered faster delivery for EV6s with reduced ADAS functionality. Audi Q4s were delivered faster without TACC and 360 cams and Sonos stereo. Skoda Enyaq customers were adviced to skip 360 cam and TACC also to speed up delivery and that worked for those who did. They got a...

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

This doesn't make sense. USS are so cheap. Is it the cables that are missing? I am not buying a car without rear corner radars for cross traffic alert, and 360 view, preferably with free camera view. For instance, my former Audi etron and the BMW iX also had hidden USS in the doors and warned...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Stalin. Lithuania, Estonia. Parts of Finland, Hungary... For the brand Tesla in Europe, Musk need to be very very careful. A lot of these countries have fresh history being suppressed by the russians for decades until late 80ies, in the same way they try in Ukraine. Musk's seemingly lack of...

    Soft ride and flat seats

Audi etron has very comfortable suspension and the multicountour seats are fantastic. EQS and EQC are very good suspension but pretty firm seats. EQA and EQB a bit more ordinary but same firm seats. Ioniq 5 is supposed to be comfy, I have no experience with the seats though. ID.4 has...

FSD fails to detect children in the road

Remember when auto lane change on EAP was new back in -18, alc would not work on all roads. I also tried a Leaf a year ago and its autosteer would not engage a a divided 2-lane road in the city that is not a freeway, correct behavior according to the manual. It doesn't make sense to make ADAS...

EuroNCAP test aeb seriously, and Thatcham research also. This can be done properly. The most interesting thing here is that FSD beta does not seem to have acceptable aeb capability. I would love to see more tests so one can find the limits. Certainly aeb can not always stop depending on the...

California DMV complaint over Tesla Autopilot/FSD

Nah, more like this: You want the new fantastic game and need to buy a PS3. Delays ensue, no game, just a buggy beta not playable with no features. Autonomous Car Progress

I don't agree to this. I feel the level 2 steering assist is a great support both at highways and narrow roads, even if I need to hold hands on wheel - both for extra safety and for compliance. The comparison of hands free lvl2 with autopilot+ defeat device is very good - in the same class of...

    Autonomous Car Progress

Of course it is a risk of going into oncoming traffic, because all ADAS will have hiccups - my experience from 5 brands and different generations. GMs and Supercruise is not available in Europe, so that is one not tried. Both AP2, AP3 cars, iX40 with EyeQ5 and ID.4 with EyeQ4 will sometimes...

    Autonomous Car Progress

And exactly that is why the owners should keep hands on wheel and pay attention at all times. The hands off level 2 system is a silly concept.
  49. daktari

    Autonomous Car Progress

Sure, but they should then rather call it a Level 3 system and let the user not pay attention. Paying visual attention is not enough if one need to take over in a split second to correct an error of the system. Then one would need hands on the wheel to immediately take control. Also, hands on...
