Centre for Research on Energy and Clear Air - Quantifying the Economic Costs of Air Pollution from Fossil Fuels - Feb. 2022 "The economic costs of air pollution from fossil fuels are estimated at US$2.9 trillion in 2018, or 3.3% of global GDP, far exceeding the likely costs of rapid reductions...

Free ability to release harmful pollutants into a public resource - the environment - is not a "true Free Market."

I agree to a point. It's not static. That "selling point" already exists right now in cities on the West coast (all that I can personally speak to). That trend will wash across the country - particularly if there is proof of concept to point to.

By the time you achieve that level of comfort, I suspect it will be too late to "reopen" that position - at least at a SP level you consider to be reasonable at that time. Then again, maybe you have insight that others don't. Then again, maybe you only think you do. As with all things investing...

Hmmm - I've got boots on the ground and I have to tell ya - it's sometimes quite foggy in SF. (That said, much less so the last 10 years or so, which is greatly concerning to me and yet more proof, albeit anecdotal, of climate change.

Can't speak to the "hype" point, but my experience has been unreservedly positive. In 6 years, I've been to the local service location once and had 2 ranger visits. I didn't request them, just when I went through the app for service, it assigned a mobile service person. Both times were 100%...

I wish you many happy years with your new truck. People finding an EV that works for them, even if it's not a Tesla, is good for the mission. Lots of people will go for the CT, so ultimately hopefully everyone's happy. Especially with trucks, proof of utility to help others get away from diesel...

Well, kinda agree. I mean, I can draw a pretty clear line from the Mission to solar. As for progress, completely agree. Even bulls have to concede that this is not a priority or a particularly successful component of Tesla. Historical reasons why this is so, but to me its a far more commodity...

This surely won't get a standing O here, but I am undisturbed by the lack of progress on the Roadster. To me, it's purpose was to increase (or continue) perception of Tesla as a company that can make the fastest production car on the planet. With the S Plaid this lane seemed to get narrower and...

Anybody else surprised by the 4680 acceleration? This is fantastic news! It's been sorta quiet on the battery manufacturing front, but this is the kind of fundamental production ramp that matters the most. CT and Optimus are fun, but to me batteries are the bricks in the wall that will be the...

That's not a backfire - that's the point. As polarizing as it may be, that person wasn't going to buy a CT anyway. But, that same person looking at a Plaid S and realizing it's also a Tesla may consider it. Your example suggests that someone would only know what a Tesla is after they see a CT. I...

It is totally fair to question whether Tesla gets to 20 million/year on whatever schedule is posed. It all starts, however, with meeting or exceeding 1.8m/year this year. So far, so good it seems to me.

I don't necessarily disagree with this sentiment, but it is definitely the case that there are regional differences. In the SF bay area, I can't help but notice how many new MY and M3 are around. Honestly, I find this sad and pathetic. I would've wished Ford did a better job in build and pricing to move toward a sustainable alternative to Tesla's lineup for those consumers who (for whatever misguided reason) want to drive an EV but don't want a Tesla. In fact, the mission needs this from...

Is this a trick question? I mean, the chart you rely on has a most recent date of 1/23/23 for price cuts. I'm referring to your own source. I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt that the data you relied on is accurate.
  34. Motor Mouth

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

That doesn't really check out though does it? Unless you eliminate M3 completely too. Moreover, and here's my main issue, the price cuts you refer to date from late January, ie during Q1. So, your data is tainted across numerous factors. Now, I get the "back of the envelope" generalizations and...

You may be right. If it were me, however, I would have a designated bobblehead lawyer who gets automatic drafts of every tweet with a 5 minute window to revise or comment before it posts. Teslarati has an update on this story noting that the owner wants to sell all 3 as a batch and bids are coming in. The highest noted is $225K. I guess you missed 2 important points. 1. I mentioned that buybacks aren't my idea of a good thing, but 2. Tesla already said they were considering doing them. So, not really my choice, but if they do it I think the impact - at least WS perception - will be positive. Your quote is undisputed...

Not that advertising disagreements aren't fun, but what I see as the next chess move from Tesla that can truly move the needle is to release something on the under-the-radar thus far stock buyback. While I'm not a huge fan, to me this is the one thing that would catch WS unaware and that WS...

In my investment thesis there are 2 primary tipping points. (1) ICE to EV adoption by the masses. IMO this has already occurred. Not to say that EV currently outsell ICE (which they clearly don't), but rather that the point at which ICE can recover has passed. I believe it will only accelerate...
